So has anyone in Australia pre-ordered the PRIV yet or are we all waiting to see if any carriers are going to bring it?

i wish i can pre-order it in australia
Both Telstra and Optus store reps have never heard of the Priv, well done BlackBerry another success story in your marketing for your self deserved lost market of Australia!!!!

Australian carriers truly are the worst when it comes to phones outside the major manufacturers. Really want the Priv but will not take the risk ordering online with almost zero support. After years of Blackberry will go Windows phone at contract expiry this December. Asking online for any news of release here in Australia meets with silence. I'm sure they are not keeping it secret when countries getting it have already been named. I blame Aussie carriers who are useless.
Hate to be blunt but BlackBerry doesn't really care about the Aussie market. It would even be way more expensive compared to the US anyway and it will only be met with more complaints. And yes, I'd heavily recommend you go towards the Windows Phone immediately and save yourself the stress.

If true.Thanks Blackberry awesome.
I heard Telstra and Optus have rejected it over the device cost.

Typical FUD thread. Have you not seen the http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-priv-1043423/ thread? Get to your carriers, work the forums. Optus forum mods are trying to get their higher ups to stock the device due to the interest. Which has already produced results I've heard from Optus insiders. I spoke with BlackBerry PR this morning who are also working on garnering interest with the carrier. Don't listen to sales reps looking to boost sales on what they believe will sell in determining how the carriers will react. If you want it, you've got to work for it. I hope neither the carriers or BlackBerry themselves read this thread.
I've noticed that none of the major carriers stock much to do with Blackberry, so I usually buy mine outright through the Blackberry Store who are located in Sydney. Great service, unfortunately they're a little slow with their repairs though. I sent my Z30 to them three weeks ago (I'm in Melbourne) and have sent a number of emails to them to see what the hold up is with the repair and have heard nothing. They have acknowledged they have the phone and I know they've read my emails but no response. I'm about to ring them today to see what the go is.

Pfft.
We've been buying most stuff (except for perishable items) online for over ten years now, and I could count the problems I've had on one hand... As for after-sales support, I've found that to be no different to Real World after-sales support; some is great, some is bad and some is in the middle, but companies rarely vary between their online and offline experience.
With two kids and a refusal to buy a mobile device on a contract (I'm post-paid, but I prefer to stick with SIM-only plans), I won't have the money until after "Santa" has been... If Vodafone have a BlackBerry Priv out by then, I'll pick it up; if not, there's plenty of places online that will sell me a BlackBerry Priv outright (including a number of Australian stores), often for cheaper.
