Just got it and installed. Anybody notice anything different? Strange it says it is the August 5 security update on the phone...

Very prescient to have the Aug 5th update issued on Aug 1st.

Of course, with Verizon we will be lucky to get the July update by Oct 5th!

You would think if BB is saying that you should upgrade ,, they would make the carrier release it also.

Make the carriers release it.... now that is funny.

If anyone had the "power" to make carriers do anything... it would be Google. But I don't think most OEMs really want Google pushing out these updates, without their first reviewing the changes and effects.

These are suppose to be just security patches... but you just never know when a patch here will break some custom software package there.

yeah the animation now mimicks the one on BB10, particularly when opening messages from the Hub, that kind of transition "to the left" is so BB10!

and seems the free RAM is now a lot better. still looking at the battery performance, will report later on.

Why do those non-carrier, non-bbshop STV100-4 devices have to wait longer for an update? Is there any reasonable explanation for not having the update out in EU.

I'm thinking it could be a different governing body. -1 and -3 units go through PTCRB to allow devices to operate on the 850/1900 bands, but I've never seen -4 units there. Do you know what's the EU equivalent for that, which I assume devices primarily operating on 900/2100 would go through?

No I think the STV100-4 devices from BlackBerry shop in EU get the update right away so it can't be something with frequencies and certification, i think. But hey "first world" probs and it's not like I'm talking bout weeks and months like poor att and verizon users, but days.
