Google's Inability To Force Software Updates Threatens Android link

John Chen said that the Priv will have a clever updating system.

I wonder what that would be as vulnerabilities appear very often on android and patching it is the only way to be secure

    Think stagefright.

    Any input?

Even the fact that BlackBerry has acknowledged an update system at all is comforting.

I am assuming, and this is just an assumption, that what Chen meant is that they will be able to update their apps (hub, keyboard, etc.) independently from carriers. Since they aren't messing with the core OS. Which makes sense, they are just separate apps. They'll still have to get Google patches for the OS, and still need to wait for a major update, like from 5.0 to 6.0. But at least they can keep the "blackberry experience" up to date.
