John Chen recently said that the Slider will be out by the end of this year and that there will be four new devices by the end of the fiscal year (April 2016).

As a lurker who has been scanning the forum on maybe a weekly basis for about two or three years, waiting desperately for a BB10 Slider to come out & replace my beat up three year old 9810 (that was second hand when I bought it), the lack of updates is really frustrating now. As a suggestion, to avoid threads like these, could a mod maybe create a locked updates/news thread that can be fixed at the top of the board? Then if only mods can post in it, maybe linking to discussion thread, it might make it easier for occasional lurkers like me (& presumably the OP) to know that there is nothing new to know about? (Hope that makes sense)

I heard the sales of passport and classic ain't encouraging, not gonna be surprised if this phone gets cancelled at all even though I really want one

PP doesn't sell because it's too polarising. Classic doesn't sell because the legacy customers holding on to their Bolds and Curves aren't interested in the device. These are the ones who won't leave their phones even for another BlackBerry phone.

Face it. Their sales numbers are going to be atrocious this quarter. I don't think they'll be able to do much with the device sales. Let's see what ends up happening.

As for the slider. If released only a fraction of BlackBerry less than 1% market base will grab the phone. The iOS and Android market doesn't give a hoot about what BlackBerry has to offer. A slider isn't win back customers. Neither did a new OS, new phones, the tool belt, or security. I'm sure JC saw the writing on the wall and changed course ASAP. I think it stopped the bleeding but they need a ground breaking piece of tech to move them forward.
