I'm hoping for something soon. I'm generally really enjoying this device but there are a few known issues that BlackBerry has not addressed that are likely to be resolved in Nougat, not to mention potential battery life benefits that come with the improved doze functionality and a few other enhancements.

We know by the recent leaked mercury screen grab that the mercury will have android n. So no doubt it's in the works, the only question is when. I agree with others, it will post a mercury release.

You don't have to be a reporter to have news about something.

CES starts next week Thurs. TCL is making a BB phone announcement then. Most people think its to debut the pkb Mercury w/ Nougat. They'll probably announce plans for another slab phone then too.

Only news was from the beta test site with the following info:

    31 Oct 16

"<snip> Any work we're doing on N has dependencies on a lot of parties.. For PRIV especially this is complicated, just because of the hardware configuration."

    8 Nov 16

"There's a whole team working on input.. It's not as easy as it may seem! Though to be fair, I'm guessing the bulk of their work is on the virtual keyboard. Keep in mind though that the capacitive keyboard functions require their own code and tuning.

Try not to get too heated on the topic.. We all know where things sit, and things will come when they come!"

Unless there's some heavy coding to make VKB sizing work, and they're holding release for that, issues integrating the PKB make much more sense.

BlackBerry is likely doing what they always have done and holding back an OS until they release a new device with it. I recall them doing this with BB10 a couple times.
