Can't speak on that, didn't get a chance to play with it. Really just held it, opened some apps and flipped through the home page. Would share pics but given what's already happened to the first one... Noope.

Not entirely sure, it had Lollipop. Unsure of version numbers as I've never really owned an Android. Note, The Hub and BlackBerry gestures were there tho.

    Posted via CB10
That suggests the Hub and gestures are a launcher and not an app opened from an icon, no?

Definitely has the same feel. Really did feel like I was using my BlackBerry, but inside Android.

Would say yes, but I didn't rlly look out for the icon. Swiping to the left brought out the Hub though.

We have two choices and only two: Google Play Services on an Android-based device, OR what we have now - an ever dwindling app ecosystem due to the lack of Google Play Services. There is no in between.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
We'll see. Since you are not an OHA member and no one has the rules that is not a member, I'll wait to see what plays out. Google provides Google Play Services for iOS, so clearly Google Play Services can be added to device that is not Android based if Google decides to do it.

Google Play Services is not provided to iOS. The apps themselves are coded entirely differently - and only by Google for their own apps.

You would need Google and all third party developers to recode their apps to NOT use these services in your scenario.

Plus it's not just Google. All of BlackBerry's Android device competitors are in the alliance too.

No, that would be Blackberrys job. If they did this way.

This is an SDK written by Google to provide a mechanism to allow iOS games to sync with the Play Games service.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Google Play Services and the OHA.

    What job would that be?

All apps using the services are coded to check the authenticity of genuine Google Play Services. BlackBerry cannot simply make a similar set of APIs - it doesn't work that way. The apps wouldn't work unless you remove the checks, which is what Lucky Patcher does.

    None of this is legal.

I wathc the news. What I saw him say was on a video interview. Someone posted up some text I think was from the same interview. JC was smiling alot. Something is coming and what it is I think is something new but for sure not a droid OS.
    To be specific:

Lack of applications has been one of our Achilles heel for the last couple of years, said Chen, in response to the question.*Were doing two things about it.*Im not at liberty to tell you what were doing beyond the Amazon app store, but were working hard at it.

And what he said about the Slider, which could be hinting towards Android is:

It's not just mechanically very innovative, it has a lot of different usage that you have to wait to see John Chen.

Show me the sections of the OHA agreement that prove that you are 100% on solid ground and that the OHA prevents this from happening. Otherwise you are simply interpreting actions by Google against members of the OHA and making up "rules" based on your interpretation of Google's action. Since the OHA agreement is not available for this, good luck.

When Google stopped Acer from making a device with Aliyun OS, that pretty much sums it up.

The phone was running a slightly forked version of Android. Not only would Google not provide Google Play Services for Aliyun, but they told Acer that they would be kicked out of the OHA if they released it. Acer relented and cancelled it. Loss of OHA membership would have meant the loss of Google Play Services on their pure Android devices.

Google said this: "All members of the OHA have committed to building ONE Android platform and to not ship non-compatible Android devices.".

We also know that OHA requires that all of the Google Mobile Apps are pre-installed, and that the Google Play Store is the primary app store. It also must say "powered by Android" on boot.

I'm not sure what else there is to say about this.

Huge news to me is from the suggestion that gestures are still there. I'm totally fine with moving to android if I have the hub to my left and can swipe up to close apps. That's honest to god all I care about.

All I'm interested in knowing is what version of BB10 OS the said slider is running. That is if it is running BB10.
Just to know what to expect when 10.3.3 finally lands.
