This is likely going to be true. If so, would this thread be moved away from the BlackBerry 10 section?

actually a damn good question. since the slider will [tentatively] involve most things android- i don't see the point of seeing threads about it on CB. deflect that ish to Android Central | Android Forums, News, Reviews, Help and Android Wallpapers
Technically if it is running Android and labeled BlackBerry, it still is a BlackBerry. So this is a valid place for slider posts.

I think he means would it fall under "BlackBerry 10 Hub" section here in the forums, or would it needs to move to another section. If there's not some form of BB10 running on it, then it probably shouldn't be in the BlackBerry 10 Hub section. I hope we find out that there is.
Wow this guy is still at it? JC said something was in the works to close the app gap even further along time ago. And that we would be amazed as he snickered. Its not a full android deal but its closing the gap even more. BB10 will be running the Slider. Not droid.
I hope so. Droid and the BlackBerry name on the device is a non starter for me. BB10 with Google Play services I'm fine with. Need BB10 to keep that stuff sandboxed.

Same here. Android phones aren't allowed on our network nor on the DoD contractors networks we do work with. That would be too bad as I was looking forward to a slider myself, as well as a few of my coworkers.

I still think it could be a dual boot phone so we might be ok here.

So it will have built in Google services? The latest images show chromecast. Maybe BlackBerry 10 with a enhanced Android runtime?

And how do you know?
If it is just an enhanced BlackBerry 10 OS with better android support, then I don't see why can't the other existing phones run this OS?

You can't have Google Play Services on a device that is not pure Android. Period. Full stop.
Unless the entire OHA agreement gets thrown in the garbage.
Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
We have two choices and only two: Google Play Services on an Android-based device, OR what we have now - an ever dwindling app ecosystem due to the lack of Google Play Services. There is no in between.
Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
So the million dollar question is?:
Will the bbos version launch first or the android version or both at the same time?
I'd be bummed if ONLY the android version launched first!!!
Although a full android runtime (w/full access to google play services) would be nice I would still like to continue to use bbos 10.

And again, as long as people realise that if they keep a BB10 variant along with the Android variant, they will be forced to remove the Android Runtime from BB10, according to the current rules.
Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
You dont think that rule will eventually change?

Not just for BlackBerry. They would have to change it for everyone and then all mfg's can make any OS handset they please instead of andriod.
Unlikely. Why would HTC, LG, and all the others want to give BlackBerry special consideration?
Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2339
Definitely runs Android. Can confirm that.

Lucky you! :)
PassportSQW100-1/10.3.2.2339 ftw!!
5.2?

So can my dog.
Not entirely sure, it had Lollipop. Unsure of version numbers as I've never really owned an Android. Note, The Hub and BlackBerry gestures were there tho.

How's the KB, is it like pp KB?

Can't speak on that, didn't get a chance to play with it. Really just held it, opened some apps and flipped through the home page. Would share pics but given what's already happened to the first one... Noope.
