It's only for a few phones as of now, but the Priv, DTEK50 and DTEK60 won't ever get it.

All you have to do first, install Nougat, Oreo with all security updates through June 2018.

Once this is done, if you can duplicate the process for all other PRIV owners, you'll be a famous person since the PRIV went EOL supportwise around September/October 2017. If you search the PRIV threads, youll see people have complained about stopping at Marshmallow.

Thanks to Project Treble, Android P Beta is now available on a range of popular devices from our top device maker partners.

    Priv is zero for three.

Nowhere is BlackBerry Mobile hardware mentioned as partner device. What is your understanding and rationale that all of us are missing including the website?

I don't have a Priv, but I can't wait to hear what you have to say about running P on the Priv.

Please post back here and let us know how it goes.

Maybe with then new BlackBerry Oreo devices, project Treble will be a way for BlackBerry users to stay updated without BlackBerry.... But at this point there are no "shipped with Oreo" devices (Treble doesn't fully apply to devices updated to Oreo), and we really don't know how that will affect BlackBerry's flavor of Android.

But for the PRIV... there are no updates without BlackBerry, and BlackBerry has officially EOL the PRIV.

At three years, not too much of a surprise... it's either that or have people complain about how their phone is slowed down by an update.

Part of the problem with Android is your hardware drivers and getting manufactures to update those too. Few manufactures want to keep development going on three year old components and making sure they function how Google wants them too.

And that's the real mess of Android updates.... Google, Chipset and OEM all have to work together to update the phones, not to mention the Carrier's have a say too. For Google - they are two of those, so that helps things a lot. But chances are that the SD810 simply won't support Android P.
