Hi everyone. I'm using the PRIV. Some of my notifications for certain apps are showing me a green android robot now instead of the symbol for the app the notification represents. So I've got a gang of tiny green robots alerting me to new messages. How do I fix this? Also my text messages are displaying as "New Text" in the notification bar instead of the name of the contact who is actually texting. Quite annoying! Help please!

Did you moved apps to external memory? If you did, move them back on your internal memory, and your problem will be solved.

I may have done this inadvertently. I was setting up a new priv from an old one. So how do I do this exactly?

The fastest way is to download from the PlayStore an app called AppMgr, download the free version. That app will show you what apps are on internal and what apps are on external memory. There you have the option to move all apps from external, to internal, apps that were previously on your internal memory.
If you don't want to download a third party app, you can go to Menu / Settings / Apps...and from there, move them yourself, one by one.

Is the new one still on lollipop? Because i don't believe you can move apps to external memory in marshmallow but you can make you external card adoptable storage so it technically becomes your whole internal memory in a way.

So I'm with you and I'm in the app settings. I even downloaded the app manager that took me to the same place? Where does it tell me if an app is stored internally or externally? Where does it give me the option to move...need the next steps. Thanks for helping.

    You are on M.
Try this: Settings / Storage & USB / click on your SdCard - three dots upper right corner / Settings / and click: Format as Internal.

WARNING: Formatting will wipe your sdcard.

Uninstall AppMgr, on 6.0.1 you cannot move apps to external memory.

Don't do this if you want to be able to move your SD card to other devices. One you make it internal, it essentially becomes your phone memory. Also, formatting will erase everything on it. Not to mention that depending on your SD card and speed, it could cause slow downs on your phone if its internal. I would actually never recommend anyone make it internal memory to be honest.
My recommendation would be to wipe the phone and restore from your Google account.

    In SafeMode the problem exists?

    TUTORIAL:
Press and hold the Power button until "Power off" appears then release.Touch and hold Power off until the "Reboot to safe mode" prompt appears (approximately 1 second). From the "Reboot to safe mode" prompt, tap OK to confirm. ...with Safe Mode enabled, test the device and app functionality.

    The process is reversible.

So I got to Storage and USB...SD card wasn't one of the options. So I've restarted in safe mode and I'm waiting for an alert to know if the greed droids have vanished. Strangely, this is only happening with certain apps. Some apps look they way they should in the notification bar.

Uninnstall the offending apps and reinstall them from the play store. This should sort it out.

    Find the culprit in SafeMode:

Press and hold the Power button until "Power off" appears then release.Touch and hold Power off until the "Reboot to safe mode" prompt appears (approximately 1 second). From the "Reboot to safe mode" prompt, tap OK to confirm. ...with Safe Mode enabled, test the device and app functionality.

Maybe you have an app that is misbehaving.
See if all your apps are displaying their icons properly, and also check if there are some apps missing while your device is in SafeMode, if they do, restart the device, uninstall and reinstall those apps.

If that won't do it, try this:

Settings / Apps - press those three dots - right upper corner / and then press: RESET APP PREFERENCES.

It’s worth mentioning here that whenever you install a new app that can be set as a default—like a launcher or browser—this will effectively reset your default preference for that category, allowing you to set the newly-installed app as default without having to go through much hassle. If you want to change it back, just follow my instructions.

I hope you'll manage to solve your issue.

    Last resort, factory reset.

One more thing: Clear data of the app: BlackBerry Launcher.
