This is just a thought! A Hail Mary attempt to not start a thread war.

I saw part of the 6.0 Marshmallow event and i have to admit...i felt a bit vulnerable. Beyond all the bells and whistles it seems that version is a better way to 'track' or 'data mine' the consumer. Correct me if i am wrong but the new improvements and capabilities 6.0 has allows Google to observe the consumer better...?? Here is my thoughts.
They spoke about how the OS will monitor what apps the user uses (at what time, place and order) and eventually places said apps at the beginning of the app list. That sounds convenient in the flesh, but the phone is tracking your every move. Another feature is the OS will monitor the user's phone activities with the 'Doze' feature -Once the phone is idle the battery power will be saved. Again, this feature is great in the flesh, but getting down and dirty isn't that still monitoring the consumer? Who is to say the finding from the 'Doze' feature isn't being sent and collected?
Also, the whole deal with Google Now. Again, correct me if i am wrong (i might be) the phone will have to be listening in every time the user is speaking in order to activate when the phrase 'Okay, Google' is said...Right?

My question...does BB10 data mines the user AS BAD as Android does?

What happened to a phone just being used for general cell phone activities...

The BB10 share framework tracks who I share specific app content with and how much I have, and makes those share menu tiles bigger or smaller. The email fields are prepopulated with most frequent recipients for that account.

BlackBerry's device manager tracks everything. How do we know they don't collect that? The screen on off trigger is actually available to devs so they can make apps to help you track your usage.

Amazon apps officially available on BB10 track your minute usage in exchange for 'really free'.

CrackBerry.com throws about a dozen cookies and trackers into my browser and keeps telling me I forgot to buy the last thing I searched for on amazon.

I don't know... seems to me BB10 is not stopping the internet from being the internet.

    Yep.

Information is money, and frankly, BBRY would be stupid not to data mine.

BBRY isn't stupid. At least, not in this specific regard.

OP, read your TOSes. If BBRY isn't tracking as well as Google, it's not due to not wanting to. No one can protect you better than yourself.

You're not buying it then because it's known that there there isn't bb10 planed at the moment. Who knows down the road

Hey man! Glad to see you back!

Anyway, I'll just say what I know. Google Now is optional, some phones allow it to be activate from anywhere on the phone, but usually you have to tap either the "mic" button or open the google now/search app.

I've googled Game of Thrones, only to get a reminder from google that Game of Thrones will be on in a few hours. I've googled the Priv, only to get updates from google about any news articles related to the Priv.

Hell, I had a doctors appointment and I put it in my calendar, only to get a reminder saying "hey, you need too leave your house at this time in order to make your medical appointment at 8am"

anyway, I think you have to opt into google now. I mean you need to accept it in order to use it so I guess if you're really worried about google seeing what you're up to, I"m sure you can disable all of that.

Top OP. Google's business model is based on data mining. Android isn't "free" as people think, you pay by giving them info, so that they can sell those metrcis to advertisement via Google ads, yotube ads, etc.

So you will have Google to know things about you, like Blackberry or Apple does, except that Google sells targeted ads with that data

The Security/Privacy that we should be looking here is that you should have a secure and private device to anybody but google Google, since we don't expect Google to leak your nude photos or something that isn't suposed to be known.

Hey man! Glad to see you back!
    Thank you as well.

I decided not to let the annoying little prissy c*nts annoy me. I'm also no longer hiding my identity. So... if anyone has anything to say to me my response will be "come at me bro!", lol.

Took a bit of a break, I'm back now..

I guess you haven't looked recently then. A simple page load of the CrackBerry homepage in my tests creates 183 cookies from 62 different websites. If you leave the browser window open, it continues to refesh and the number goes up.

Web devs often combine individual gifs into one large image and then select out the individual images in the browser all to reduce the number of http requests, these cookies do exactly the opposite.
This is (IMO) part of the reason why the CrackBerry website is a complete performance hound.

Cookies before automatic refresh in my tests:

Lol... I actually did look at it a few days ago because I was 'stuck' in the mobile view when I clicked on it out of curiosity on my laptop.

But seeing the ads on it, it doesn't really surprise me.
