    android device manager not found in security settings dialog after install of app ...reboot = no changes... wanted to enable lock & wipe capabilities but cannot find those controls... unlocked BlackBerry sold priv STV100-1 up to date... google app does locate device... what to do?

    There are no device manager settings, and the device manager app is only needed on very very old devices. Device manager features are now built into the OS, and you access the features by visiting https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager via a desktop web browser.

    Ok... so I have installed the Google device manager app, is it unnecessary? Should I uninstall it?

    Yeah. It's redundant and just wasting space. I'd uninstall it.
