Hey everyone, I just got an OTA update notification and installed it. Build number bumped to AAW068, but the phone remained on the Oct 2017 patch level. Does anyone know what's new?

Yeah, updated and downgraded Play Services and it installs now. The OTA was about 107MB, which is the usual size of a monthly update, although if it's still on the October 2017 patch level then either BB messed up the patch level in the build (not the first time it's happened) or it's another one-off like the KRACK fix.

Although I seem to remember running the scanner back in Oct, and it said the Priv was good.

Maybe the Oct patch date is confusing the app.

Disable Find my Device, uninstall Google Play Services updates, then do the update.

All Priv and DTEK updates between Oct and Jan had this issue - requiring the well-discussed workaround.

UK BB Shop unlocked. Updated via otafix. The www.blackberry.com/sirt link in the update doesn't give any useful information about the update. Although the Android security is still Oct 17, the kernel version is Mar 18.

I had an interesting go at updating for a bit before it updated. When I did the workaround to update, disabling Google Play Services updates froze all my apps. I couldn't get into settings, or any apps to re-enable Play Services updates. After a while the Security Update for Priv started downloading and installing and after the install. I was able to go back in settings and re-enable the Play Services update.

Go to settings, apps. Tap 3 dots and select "reset app preferences".

Then try again.

My guess is that this update is related to Spectre... that vulnerability is serious enough that I knew that BlackBerry should patch it for the Priv.

Because there is multiple variants (of Spectre) that had to be addressed, they probably waited until they could roll them out in one update which is why we're seeing it now.

Updated successfully using the workaround as well. No changes in performance so far (which is good news). Reassuring to know they are still patching serious vulnerabilities I suppose

My update hasn't shown up yet, I live in the USA, my PRIV is unlocked, and I am on an ATT prepaid plan, do I have to wait for ATT to roll it out, or is the update not available in the USA yet.
