I have a feeling carrier selling price will be cheaper? As a BlackBerry strategy to get more carrier sales?

    Posted via CB10
I think so too. And carriers might have exclusive for release date. I hope so at least.

BlackBerry continues to make the same mistake when pricing their new phones... Why!?

And they wonder why they don't sell in high numbers (as at that price, we can be pretty much certain they wont...). $950 CDN is just crazy... $750-$800 max is what it should and needs to be (and probably around $600-$650 USD).

Hopefully the person I got my Passport SE from through the EPP is still available and the price is a lot cheaper. Otherwise it will be a long time before I get one no matter how much I want one.
If you look at passport SE specs, it's severely overpriced aswell.

How can you compare a passport to a priv? The Passport is cheap because they can't sell them. Nobody wants Passport with BB10.

    Carriers always offer discounted pricing.
"100 off all phones if you upgrade now."
"$100 off all phones for Christmas/back to school/etc."
"Take an extra $100 off the sale price if switching from a different carrier"

My wife just got a Note 5 this summer for $150 CAD (2 year contract) after discounts, from Telus.

I thought $800 was high, but fairly priced for the high end specs..... not so sure about the $900+ range

cant do contract price either due to the fact that i have a great grandfathered plan on rogers. Robbers trying to get people to switch to rip off share everything plans

I was hoping for a $499 - $599 US price. I probably will give in, but there might be a little whimpering.

I'm in Canada and that link only brings up the Blackberry Canada Store, but the Priv is nowhere to be found. Maybe they took it off the site?

Let's hope some moron at BlackBerry was on crack and blindly put up the wrong prices. Just sit back and wait for a fire sale like the Z10 and Q10.

First they screw up the name and now they're gonna screw up the pricing. They might as well dig a big hole and bury the entire hardware division.

To BB or not to BBBBBB...?

Agree. I was going to pre-order one, but not at this price. This is blackberry's first android and for that price, I'm not going to test it for them. Best to wait and see what the reviews are after people have been using the device for a while out in the real world (not just quick hands on videos where people play around). I don't care about the money, but I don't want to throw it away on something I end up hating.

Once the real reviews come out, I can look at what users are saying and how much applies to me. For example, if the only complaint is a poor functioning front facing camera, I don't care because I'm not a self-obsessed tween. If calls cut out or wifi connections suck, well...that's a problem. I'll only know after a bunch of people buy it and start addressing real issues.
Let's hope some moron at BlackBerry was on crack and blindly put up the wrong prices.
Or, they put it up just long enough to get people on forums like this one talking so they could gauge reaction. If they did so, it's a brilliant plan and it worked. We'll never know, even if the price changes.

No way that is a officially price that would be suicide unless they are getting strong carrier support. If att, Verizon, and Tmobile are on board it opens up subsidized on contract and zero interest payments, but then your stuck with carrier updates as well.

There is way too much competition at lower prices Nexus 5x and 6p, HTC A9, Moto x, Lumia 950 XL, all are available carrier unlocked at up to half the price of the Priv. I am holding out hope that the previous rumor of $599 will be the cash price.

    - Or the 'mistake' was only for the ameraican continent websites,
    - Or the device won't be available at launch in europe..

I am curious about this aswell, the part I know is that the European shop page didn't work, only the US and Canada page did.
