It all depends how much of the cost of the 2 year contract goes to covering the balance of the full purchase price of the PRIV and how much the monthly fees are compared to a similar non device purchase plan.

Shop BlackBerry is now selling the PRIV for $559, down from $899 a $340 difference.
The Rogers $699 offer appears to be based on the old $899 price, suggesting that the $200 difference is in the monthly fees.

I don't have Bell as a carrier but they are offering the Priv for $0 on a 2 year contract with $80 monthly plan.

Regardless this $199 deal is probably Telus or Rogers.

If those who can afford to buy factory direct, do it. It is the best option for getting the most recent build of Priv's which was considered to have a better build quality and the fact that software updates come on line right away direct from BlackBerry.

There should be a Black Friday or Boxing Day sale coming respectively I suspect. That might be the better time to pick up the Priv. Hopefully by then the latest version of Android is just around the corner so the wait isn't as long.

A quick handling of the unit I got today showed no issues with hardware. It was super sturdy as well, no give on the backside like some members have reported. I suspect as the ShopBlackBerry is the STV100-1 variant, the gap is caused by the coils being removed on the -3 model. We should actually do a little poll and see if that's the common thread.

I was quite surprised about when I felt solid material and not the give I've seen in videos on the Priv. Good hypothesis perhaps.
