    The usb connector on my PB psu has gotten mangled. Normally I wouldn't matter about such trivial things, but the psu that came in the PB box, the one with the yellow tip, was probably the best charger known to man for any micro usb device, phones, tablets, you name it.

    So I've got a replacement connector and I'll be repairing the cable tomorrow but I can't tell by just looking at the wires which is the live and which is ground. Is there any way to tell other than cutting the broken connector open with a hot scalpel?

    Try and locate the magnetic one! Much better. Btw, the original PB charger did not have a yellow connector

    Hmm ... my 64GB PlayBook came with a 'yellow tail' USB charger, which was bought BNIB

    My 16gb and 32gb bought in the US did not have the yellow plug however my 64gb came from the UK and did have the yellow connector.

    Actually, the chargers accompanying PBs sold in the UK certainly do have yellow plugs...

    Get a multimeter (voltage meter), and download a diagram for micro USB wiring...

    Then solder a new plug (male micro USB connector) cannibalised from another (dead?) charger or a (cheap?) micro USB cord...
