Not likely...
What is the issue with having the ability to print from the Playbook. Seems like a pretty simple addition.
Printing isn't really that simple. It seams that way, but only for Windows.
Even the HP Touch Pad recognized my HP8500 and I could print with no issues.
Your HP TouchPad recognized your HP printer? I'm sure if RIM made printers the PlayBook would support them.
I'm sure printing support is something RIM wants, but I can see why there's higher priority things. The Print To Go app they delivered is quite small and simple compared to making printing work. I agree with them that things like BBM, USB OTG, Netflix, etc are higher priority. I'm guessing they'll get to printing support within the next year though.
Couldn't they design a dual app. One part would be on the PB and one would reside on a PC. When you send the print command from the PB, it would send it to the PC app. The PC app would print it using printer drivers already installed on the PC. That way, you'd only have to install printer drivers once and the PB wouldn't need to format the commands in any special way.
Just a thought from a DEFINITE non-programmer.
It could, there are some standard languages that printers speak. Such as PCL. Could also simply use something built in Linux on the QNX platform. CUPS or something I think it's called could be used. It's opensource.
Will it be able to, probably not yet. But who knows, it's possible.
It took quite a few years before we got decent printing even in Windows,...
Which printers should be included?
Unfortunately most printers require specific drivers to finction and to properly format the printing......
Although it could be possible: instead on relying on drivers for all printers support the most common generic printing methods, such as PostScript, generic drivers, Bonjour for macs, and a printing serverlet built into Desktop Software.

If you have Splashtop set up on PB and PC you could transfer your Doc on PB to Drop Box then using Splash open your PC and go to Drop Box and print it. Not the best but it will work.
I've read that you can use the e-print function in wireless printers.
Yes, it's called CUPS. My guess is that when we do get printing it will be CUPS based. However building an easy to use CUPS configuration GUI is no simple task. It also represents yet more RAM usage, so it'd probably have to be a service that's started on demand, which requires modifications to CUPS. All of these add up to it being non-trivial. I'm guessing the results of the Beta Zone survey indicated other features were higher priority to most users.
