No chance. The PB is updated as it going to get and no more.
Just like all BlackBerry devices, the PlayBooks boot rom is locked.... no other OS can be installed.
Besides the locked bootloader, there is also the issue that I'm pretty sure Win 7 is not ARM compatible. There was an ARM compatible Win 8 demoed my MS, and I think that's what turned into the short-lived Windows RT.
But it seems that regular Win 8 won't run on an ARM processor either.
So, no dice either way.
Yeah MS has messed around with so many variants of Windows for mobile devices, and they seemed to always end up abandoning users... like with Windows RT.
Do wish MS had taken the time to build their own OS for ARM, the whole emulation process for current Windows on ARM is... not idea.
You could probably get a VM going for some small Linux distro. I ran Bochs on my Classic and booted QNX 4.

QNX is a very, very, veeery light OS and it ran pretty slowly on the Classic.
Probably not worth doing.
Despite the PlayBook being very good for the time, with only 1 GB of RAM, there is little else that could be done with it other than the software that is on it right now. Even if it were not locked and you could install a different OS on it, I'm sure it would run like crap.
