Greetings!

Hope you ladies and gentleman are in the finest mood.

We are now in the last/final phase with respect to RIM/Blackberry Playbook.
As of now it was just a hobby project. But this project needs a name now. Its in a very matured stage and it needs a name.

We are porting new OS to RIM/Blackberry playbook. With new bootloader. Not the Factory default bootloader. And a new bootrom, not the factory default super secure signed bootrom. Users are free to install OS of their choice there is no limit on what the OS can be.

Plus it will have loads of other facilities which died down with the Playbook original OS viz. USB-OTG, SDCard MOD, GSM RADIO modem (may be) provided we find the right chip, and a host of improvements.

New OS which we will support are as follows,
1. Android. 2. Debian 3. BSDs 4. QNX

I have decided to drop myself from android support after the initial one, and let xsacha take care of android. But i will support NetBSD/FreeBSD, Debian GNU Linux, LFS (Linux From Scratch), BSD From Scratch, and lastly QNX the pristine QNX for those hardcore QNX fans.

I will *NOT* officially support Apple (C) (R) iOS and Microsoft (C) (R) Windows OS for ARM platfrom, having said that, if users are intersted? I will not hesitate to offer my help in which/whatever way possible.


So I request you to post your ideas for a name.

Format for naming is like this :

Name of the project : Use your wicked most imagination to come up with a whacky name no conditions apply.
Your naming reason : Use your reasoning skills, and cut it maximum 120 characters and NOT WORDS or 2 LINES, Not a whole paragraph.

Suggestion deadline : 15 th July 2013 and at 23:59 GMT your ideas will be sealed and the most attractive ones. With approval of moderators will be finalized.

I think my reasoning for the name is quite obvious so I won't elaborate.

Got my eyes on this thread. And will help with the selection and then change the thread title when we have decided. I really like OpenBook which has already been suggested.

I think what we will do is post up a poll on the 15th with the best suggestions and the top vote will get it.

jim horn actually said the word "openbook" casually. that gave me the idea. that this project is without a name. it needs a name. and pkcable also from "Playbook Rooting" to a proper forum and not a sub forum :-D when the name is finalised.
