UK user, here, was already on 840 beta, checked for updates a few minutes back, and got (and installed) a 1M update - build still shows as 840.
Has the beta tag been dropped from the reported OS version? I can't remember whether it mentioned beta in the OS details on the playbook, but I can't see any reference to beta now.
I'm using the .840 beta and just got the 1mb update.
Strangely on the description mentions the 2.0.1 update?
Installed it and only thing is the playbook beta reporter.
Maybe only now rim is actually figuring out the bugs on the .840 beta to make it final?
I'm a bit curious. Does RIM get feedback from users about the beta releases or are they purely for developers to test their applications on?
Feedback would help and improve the OS (Like bug fixes and all). But perhaps they monitor what's going on through forums?
If you take it to the most recent DEV you cannot go back, easily.
Also, I found on mine, when in browser, the browser closes whenever I try to go to web based gmail, I tried all ways and same thing. Have to use Messages in order to use gmail.

Just to say, I had this 1st 1M update to 840 (was already on the 840 beta).
Then after midnight last night, I checked again, and there was another 1M upate to my .840 PlayBook.
This time, 2 icons had been added - that were never on my PlayBook originally, but according to the BlackBerry website, should have been there - an icon for BBC iPlayer and BBC News (I'm in the UK).
I suspect they are stock icons for my region, and all they do is launch the browser with a URL anyways. I hadn't deleted them, previously, I just have no recollection of them being on my PlayBook from new.
Odd, though, nothing new, icon wise, in the frst 1M update I had to 840 (no bug reporter before, still no bug reporter now).
So I suppose there's some strength to the arguments that they are OS patches, and all that they are applying missing stock config (not sure how that's occurred in my case, though).
I am downloading the 2.1 update and we are into 14 hours + and only at 61% downloaded? Is this right, it is pathetic...any ideas to speed it up........
Wayyyyyyyyyy too long, should take less than an hour, similar issue, http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...o-long-547158/
Unplug and retry, shut off pb, boot dtm, plug in the turned off pb, follow the screens and agree to anything saying to upgrade or update.
