    it's lighting. indoor light is generally not so good. with no flash it's a bit of an issue.

    Yep, mine is the same indoors under low light conditions. Take them in better light or outside during the day and you will see a big difference.

    You also need to watch for background lighting. The light meter will adjust to that making the foreground object darker and grainy. The lighting in that room don't look too bad, but with the TV (?) in the background on the left it probably affected the shot. Moving the PB more to the left so that the TV wasn't in the shot might have helped.
