    hi I have already talked about a problem I have --....after security wipe I left all my icons only 2 stayed browser and setup--plz I want to know if there a way to load a new os without bbdm because this later never finish updating and coming with an error message

    my playbook is LTE 4 g
    software version is the last one
    plz help me and I am very sorry to post here since I think I have an OS problem

    I think you would be best served by either calling your carrier (that will probably be useless but you can try).

    Or call Rim support.

    The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

    I would think you have to have BB DTM on your pc. It's free to download. I just wiped and reloaded my 1st Playbook this weekend as after almost 2 years? of use and sideloading and generally just using it. My 2nd PB which is my media server to my AV system is still rock solid after about a yuear and a half. Never sideloaded on that one. But my Work Playbook was srating to "feel a bit wonky", so I did a Security wipe, and a full reload of the OS image, did one update and PB is like new. Zippy and fresh, Browser working happy. Like I just opened the box.

    I kind of equate this to my pc's, as every 18/24 months, I wipe and reformat and things are zippy again.

    What kind of PC are you using? Win 8? Yuck! if you have XP or 7, should be no issue. You might be able to use a freinds machine if you suspect its your machine/windows version.

    Try this: a video of a complete wipe and restore link shown below. This is what I used and all went well, no issues. He does report that there is a bug if you don't hit the "repair" then update windows in a certain amount of time, but it was not a big deal. You will see it when you preview the video BEFORE you start. Remember, to copy/backup all you images/music/docs to the PC before your start.

    Total time from plug in to unplug Playbook was about and hour. Make sure you Playbook IS FULLY CHARGED before you start.



    This should get you through the process with minimal issues. It worked for me. You just have to get through his description of his breakfast.......

    Hope this gets you back to where you were.

    so i have both a window 7 and 8 same negatif results and i noticed that remark on BBDTM
    that says

    ...blackberry software cannot communicate with your device...

    and can see my playbook displayed on BBDTM

    is it possible thats why i cant do the software update ???????

    you can try the Link software but you may have an issue with your antivirus or other program on the pc. folks running AVG reported issues.

    If Link doesn't work I would think that it's a pc program or permission issue

    is it possible this is the main reason why i cant update...because bbdtm doesnt communicate with my device??
    i tried the update on several computers and the same result
    when i plug my pb i have the option to repair and the software ztart downloading the os and then with the extraction the error message appears..
    is there another alternative apart wifi because i have the last OS

    Open DM on pc and turn the PB off completely When it is off, then connect the usb and should recognize.

    search the forum for debricking the PB. Should help you

    Link is the new DM software for the bb10 devices but it works on playbook.

    You can also try uninstalling DM on pc and reboot and connect the PB and let the pb install the device drivers on the pc.

    read up on the debrick process, that should sort you out

    It may but seems that you have an issue with the pc. You should be able to uninstall DM. Hopefully installing link will overwrite DM software.

    Been a while since I did a security wipe but as I recall I could install current OS via wifi only. Didn't need to use DM at all. I'd try to redo security wipe on pb after a hard reset, hold power and volume up buttons at same time

    Is it possibly you attempted to delete the Desktop Software or a portion of it - that can sometimes foul up Control Panel. You might try REinstalling the Desktop Software again - that should fix things sufficiently so you can then fully delete it.

    OK, you got your first major hudle passed you, the PC now sees it as drive "Z", which is correct/normal.

    Go to the youtube video I posted the link to above and watch it. Maybe twice. And you should be good. I follow the procedure this last weekend and all went well.
    You know when you have it done correctly is when your OEM icons are back AND you get that HD demo video in your Video folder. This video is integrated into the OS itself. So when you have that, you should be golden.

    Keep us posted.

    P.S. Make sure you are using the DATA cable that came with the Playbook. Not all micro usb cables are the same, some are basically "charging" cables only. You need the one that came with the playbook, it's meant to hadle the hispeed data bits......
