I find it hard to believe that playbook does not support some common media codes. Is there a good player that can handle various formats. Why is blackberry not supporting these things its really an essential thing to do. Please let me know what options I have and if I can install some player's from Android

You can install VLC through and android sideload.

I haven't hit a codec i can't use yet and i use a bunch The only issue I've come across is the lack of sound on videos encoded with 5.1. A simple conversion to stereo 2 channel before transferring the file fixes that.

Have you found a way to play FLAC on the PlayBook natively?

You can't. It doesn't exist. The is a VLC direct bar, but that is not the VLC player, it merely links you to your desktop VLC player (if you can get it to work).
