    Hey guys,

I was wondering what exactly will be the date of shutdown of the playbook infostructure servers....

    Same as BlackBerry 10? - 31.12.2019?

I just want to know, because maybe Im gonna to put a fresh OS on my pbs.

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Hi,

What's the impact that this will have on the PB? I'm sure I read somewhere that it won't matter so long as the PB is activated as the servers being turned off related to the BlackBerry network, which the PB doesn't use.

Is there a definitive announcement or something anywhere that confirms what will / will not work?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,

my question is how long the update of the OS will be available...

From time to time one wants to put a fresh OS on the PB, but it seems like nobody knows for how long the 2.0 update will be still online.

...so after a security wipe you will be stuck on 1.0 forever, right?

Or am I missing the point?...

    Cheers,

    Tim

Security wipes don't change what OS is installed, so if one is on 2.1.0.1917 (i.e. the final PB update) and security wipes they'll come out of it on 2.1.0.1917. I can't remember if BB ever fixed security wipes deleting all of the preloaded apps other than the browser, though, so if that ends up happening, and assuming the software update servers go kaput by 2020, then that would be a problem unless one has local copies.

I know that this is the case with smartphones, but its not with the PB.

A few days ago I did a security wipe of my 16GB PB and after that it checked for updates. (forced me to enter my BlackBerry ID and go online - there was no other option.

So the only way to go on was to install the 2.0 update (around 298mb or so I think it was ..)

Did you find a solution to activate your Playbook?
Because I'm also trying to activate one, but it just wouldn't work...

No, unfortunately I think its done. Last try for me, the father in law just picked up an tablet which is pretty neat...I was just hoping I could limp along with the Playbook for a while longer.

    Hey everyone,

now it should work again. I found another thread in the Crackberry Forums: https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...48/index2.html

And I've just activated my PlayBook successfully.

Apparently someone plugged something back in after having inadvertently tripped over the cord.
