Windows phone 8.1 works on devices with 512 mb ram. I've tested it on a lumia 520. The problem is that bb10 is resource hungry and has also bad memory management.

Blackberry are taking steps in the right direction as the Z3 has only 1512mb of ram.

That being said yes windows phone 8 and 8.1 does work pretty well on a 520.

I had a 520 and for the most part it works well. Except when you open an app go out of it and return to it there is the dreaded apps resuming dots that happen very often.

Also the best apps and games are unavailable to you because of the lack of ram, while some devs manage to slim down their code to work on low memory devices such as the 520 most do not.

Blackberry 10 does require more Ram yes but it also performs better and more consistently.

BB10 eat about 1 gig of ram at a new startup.
Yes, the lack of RAM on the lumia 520 can be felt when multitasking, and it is annoying at a point, but in general WP is (way) faster and smoother (executing apps, in-app-performance and so on) than BB10.

So definitely BB10 needs improvements... maybe they couldn't provide an usable experience on the Playbook..

Oh I'm not saying wp8 isn't better at resource management.

Saying wp8 is smoother and faster is debatable. I know bb10 apps seem like they take longer to launch but that's because it opens the active frame first (according to the 10.3 leak launching apps is much faster).

Also I'm on no way saying bb10 doesn't need improvements, if.sure needs a lot of them but then again every mobile and desktop OS alike needs updates.

But in all reality, why does it matter who has the most efficient OS? The entire experience is what matters to me the most personally.

With that thinking it might be better to use windows phone 7 because it had a minimum ram requirements of 256mb of ram. I'm not saying this to be rude, just to make a point

    Yours is dead?
Pity cause mine works just fine.
The only thing it misses is an update to 10.3 and blend.

Tablets are dead anyway. Why bother. My Z10 does everything I need and for the type heavy / banking / serious stuff I have a super light flexible touchscreen laptop. The tablet war is a joke whose punchline dropped 2 years ago. Bye bye PB, AND iPad, and anything else substandard to getting everything in one spot.

Tablets aren't dead. They are perfect for people like me who don't want a phone the size of a Yugo.
