hello everyone I am new here so my questions may have a hint of naivety to them. im running the BBOS7 version on PB.

I would like to know where/if can I get a bar file conversion of it or if i can do this myself?

Secondly I notice that there is a chromium browser for BB10 here https://appworld.blackberry.com/webs...46809/?lang=en
can this work on BBOS7? if so will i gain access to all the chrome addons?
I have emailed them no response

is there a way to convert or stepdown or make backwards-compatible this app to work on playbook?

Any help or any ideas will do...

The android runtime on the PlayBook is at Gingerbread 2.3. By searching Androiddrawer and other apk store sites you can find older versions of Chromecast apks that may (but I have my doubts) work after conversion to .bar format then sideloaded onto your device. This is trial and error and I am not sure if there is even an APK to BAR conversion site on the web anymore. I used to use either apk2bar.org or the converter on GoodEreader but I believe both have been shut down.

As far as the Chromium Browser in BBW for BB10, it will definitely not work. Browsing is extremely brutal on the PlayBook--it's just too old.

edit: note that browser has not been updated in ages!

And if Java runs on everything why are there not Java browsers?

A Java to Bluetooth browser should solve everything, right?!

The Bluetooth module in the PlayBook is extremely primitive and cannot possibly support what you are looking at. I'm afraid that you are stuck with what you have. Most use the Origami browser and switch out the user agent choices in the settings but the experience is still horrible compared to today's modern browsers. There is the basic browser in Duck Duck Go that I use on occasion and it seems somewhat better but not much. For that you need to convert the old apk to bar and sideload. At this point, though, it's just not really worth all the hassle IMHO.

Thanks again but I paid £75 for my BBPB 2013 and i want some monies worth out of it. Even if i just use it as a monitor! I heard there are apps that let you share a screen with other devices via bt/wifi, are there any such apps still avail for PB?

Maybe i can plug something into it and turn it into a DTV? but i cannot find the bar file for PADTV anywhere nor make one

remote desktop from pc to pb is possible - search blackberry world. best pb usage option would be as a dlna player - buy kalemsoft from bb workd.
