A number of games. I am in the PlayBook thread here am I not?
(clicking the wrong one in the CrackBerry app is easy.)
The number one use for my PlayBook is games - and when they are 1-1.5GB a piece, that gets filled up very easily.

The total backup for my Z10 is only 3.2GB - of which a good one GB is osmand map data.

It is also easier than on the Z10 due to the bigger screen - the Z10 has the better specs, but the screen is too small for on screen controls - as a communication device it is great though.

Dug my Playbook out of the closet yesterday due to remembering I had a few Ebooks still to read on it. Hadn't used it for about 7 months.

Charged it up, hooked it into my new router. Surprised to see an update. Installed it.

Have to say after not using the Playbook and having used other more modern devices I am surprised how sluggish and lumpy the Playbook is now.

    Buttery it is not.

How times change and newer devices improve. I shall get the books read and back in the cupboard it goes.

What i did was to sideload an android version of osmand, it allows user to use the ext card as storage rather than the internal memory.

Or one can move the maps using PlayCloud before backing up.

Just download the official update directly on your PB or via the BB desktop software on your computer.

This is the 1526 autoloader. Was experimenting with Darcy's Tools and Sachesi but couldn't quite figure out how to pull the radio file yet. Anyone with the knowledge able to pull the radio file from this and post?

The only 4G radio I know of on the production servers is the one from 2.1.0.1088:

    Code:
    http://cdn.fs.sl.blackberry.com/fs/qnx/production/ae5bdf7615d29d6474556a94417f3117ef3da916/mod-qcmdm9k-2.1.0.1013-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar
While it may or may not exist, once someone figures out the version number of the radio that goes with this OS, it should slot nicely into:

    Code:
    http://cdn.fs.sl.blackberry.com/fs/qnx/production/9d61f16b3a081aa09abe49ada9e8d4fe04ddea0a/mod-qcmdm9k-2.1.0.????-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar

    Good stuff... two things:

    1. Can I load the 1088 radio on to 1756 using DDPB or the Chrome extension? I'm not sure what you mean by "slot nicely into:"
    2. I'm running 2.1.0.1282 on my 4G PlayBook. It has an AT&T SIM but is unbranded I believe (evaluation device). I've tried wiping, not inserting the SIM, and then trying to update. Nothing. BUT...I know 2.1.0.1526 was released on Bell and Rogers 4G PlayBooks so there must be a radio in that. Is there any way to get that radio?

    1. You're welcome to load the 1013 radio (from 1088), what I meant by "slot nicely into" was that if we were to find the radio version that goes with this OS, then we could stick that into the gap in the URL.
    2. As far as I know (after scouring the CSE server and checking PTCRB certifications), the only extant radios for 2.1 are 2.1.0.1013 and 2.1.0.1283. I couldn't find the file for 1283, only 1013. In fact, the PTCRB certifications for 1526 and 1753 are with those two radios.

If BB Desktop Software downloads the radio during the process of downloading debrick images, one might be able to discover the URL that holds the 1283 radio if one were to monitor their outgoing traffic with fiddler2 or something similar during a debrick operation.

Edit:I think cap.exe can package a 1753/1013 autoloader, the only question is if said combination would work.

Awesome answers so far, thank you so much.

Is loading the radio as simple as using DDPB or something? Or do I have to package it in an autoloader?

Is there a way to find the radio file version on an existing PlayBook? I'd like to see what I have on mine. Maybe I can drop that into the link, although there seems to be some encryption after the "production/" part of the link that may be dynamic.

You can load the radio bar after installing 1753, or you can extract the radio bar, split the 1753 autoloader and create a new autoloader from 1753/1013.

And I don't know how to get the radio version of an existing install. If you manage to figure that out, the hexadecimal gibberish after / production should work, as the 1753 debrick files are in the same folder.

Has anyone tried loading that radio on 1753? Are there any issues with it?

Is there any advantage of loading that radio into an autoloader vs. sideloading it on its own?

I don't have a LTE/H+ PlayBook, so I can't test. If you or any other cell-enabled PlayBook user are up for it, try backing up and loading 1753/1013. And reporting what happens, of course.

And as for the second question, there's only one way to find out.

You could try reloading the device OS with BlackBerry Desktop Software, it should put you back on 1282. And maybe then you could figure out the URL for the 1283 radio with fiddler2.
