I currently have a 64Gb Playbook which developed a hardware fault, I ended up talking to a support technician at Blackberry in Canada for three hours whilst we tried to fix the Playbook.
I asked about BB10 for the Playbook and I was told that it would be coming after the Q10 has been released and that it has been noted by Blackberry that users want more apps for the Playbook as that was something I mentioned in regards to lack of apps for the Playbook.
Also Blackberry have lots of apps queued up in the certification process (not sure if this was for the Z10 and Q10 or for the Playbook as that wasn't specifically mentioned).
Just thought I would share this info, seems as though BB10 is still coming and I doubt the person I spoke to would say it's coming if Blackberry have no plans to release BB10 for the Playbook.
Unfortunately it is completely possible that the person you talked to was misinformed. PR staff are often not completely up-to-date with the latest information regarding things like software updates (I'm saying this generally, not specifically about Blackberry).
Such a shame that they have not tried to distance themselves from their reputation as over promising and under delivering. I love my Z10 and my PlayBook, not a good look when die hard fans can say the company that makes the product they love are liars.
just like phone reps. wrong information can be given with little consequence. the above poster is right about under promising. we never get updates and are always putting faith in the next update. always seem to be something important missing with each release, despite the multitudes of fans requests in forums and tweets
I've heard BlackBerry 10 will be released for the PlayBook in June. I obviously can't say who I heard this from, but they said it's on the BlackBerry road map.
fine don't say who, but since you aren't giving any names or titles, give us specifics. no one gets in trouble. tell us how bridge will be affected, will it have a hub, will the upcoming android runtime be part of it, will we lose the games and apps we currently have? please and thank you
I actually didn't ask much details. They weren't in PlayBook development, but they did mention a "Note" like device coming out in September and a mystery device being released in the Christmas period. It was a short conversation and I'm sure they wouldn't have been able to give me much in the way of details. I was just glad to hear that a PlayBook update was coming. They did give me a business card, but I'm not going to divulge anything more than that.
The way I look at it is nothing is true until there's word from one of the more reputable BlackBerry reps, but that probably won't happen since anything PlayBook related seems to be on lockdown right now.
After the q10 has been released is correct information. The q10 has been released and bb10 will follow. Whether it is in a few days or next year, it will have still been released after the q10.
I'm sure somebody posted that two days ago in the CB forums. Apparently the tweet has been deleted ...let me check real quick..I'm 90% sure about this.
I believe so. Also, he unfortunately made his PlayBook unusable as a result with no way to downgrade the OS until if a real BB 10 comes to the tablet. Kudos to him for trying but still...now the tablet just has a fancy boot screen with a percentage that never gets past 100%
yeah. always have to give props for trying. lots of people came out to help. time will show what happens when the official comes out. its funny that when something to do with security shows up, blackberry fixes it right away, but when a customer has an issue or fans ask for features there is no response and updates are few and far between
