YouTube is a system app that can't be uninstalled. As for "safemode", if you're looking for parental controls, there are none on the playbook. The best you can do is to create a folder and stick YouTube in it and maybe move it over a couple of screens, or disconnect your Playbook from the internet altogether.
Thank you for your response. Well, I tried creating the folder and moved it few screens but it took few minutes for my 3 year old to work out where youtube was... so, guess we are left with no option as just to stop giving it to him or as you mentioned turning wifi off.
Speaking from experience, you also need to delete any saved wifi profiles, otherwise the kids just turn wifi back on.
If you have access to your router, there is the option of setting up OpenDNS.com on your router to block a lot of the inappropriate content. In my case, I had a spare router and created a fairly locked down OpenDNS account on this router for when I want my son to be able to use the internet. I still delete the profile for this wifi when it is not in use so he needs to ask me to get on the internet.
