I saw yesterday that there is a way to download YouTube videos onto our Playbook's so we can watch them later when not near wifi.
I saw a YouTube tutorial...copy the YT video link and paste it into a browser of playbookrevolution.com/tube - then choose your res quality etc. It seems this and a couple of other sites for this no longer work.
Is there any other working sites you guys know of ?
There's an android app called tubemate (needs sideloading) that works fine for this purpose.
I heard about tube mate yesterday and didn't know it was android. I've yet to learn this side loading business but will keep it in mind. :D
Sideloading is a piece of cake- takes about 2 minutes to sideload an app (larger apps will take longer) and gives you access to many worthwhile apps. See the sideloading sub-forum for info, instuctions, and links to apps that can be sidloaded.
I use filsh.net to download the youtube videos.
Thanks. It has saved in my PB files but not in the videos using filsh.net. Also it says "Media error. Cannot open the file. Please check the permissions and try again.
Which format do you save it as in filsh.net ?
Thanks I've managed to get it to show up in videos. I opened in files then it showed up in there.
Are we able to change the format to 1080p in filsh or automatically it saves the format to whichever the YT video was playing at the time of copying the link ?
use this all the time,great results there is on option to(format)it to mp4+aac/for itunes,iphone,ipad etc.thats the one

EDIT - I fixed the link as I had an extra e in it.
File2HD.com works just fine. Copy and paste url, scroll down and select the mp4 file from the long list of stuff, plays fine on the PlayBook
I use Freemake on the PC to download and sync to my PlayBook. ;)
I just tried this and it worked like a charm (as he said! LOL). Downloaded to my MacBook
Then I used Dukto to transfer to my PlayBook. Process couldn't be simpler.

Why are you guys using converters? Almost all YouTube videos are MP4's and can be played directly on the PB without conversion. Plus, even the flash videos can be played, either with a 99 cent app or through the PB browser.
We want to save some videos to watch later. Also I want to save some 1080p HD videos.
You don't need a converter to do that.
Like pacoman 03 said, if you have a 1080p video on YouTube, it's very likely its already mp4 - just download it and save it. No need to convert" it. NB: unless you're using a lossless hd video editing program, these free converters often degrade the video quality in an effort to compress the file.
use tubemate to download youtube videos, when you press download, the app will show you available file format to download like 1080p, 720p etc, mp4, mkv or flv. Tubemate is easy to use and the only error I can get when using it is network error which is not app related but because my network connection is slow sometime.
I use this, it has to be sideloaded after being unzipped. It downloaded everything in an mp4 format and if you go into the options will allow you to enable what quality of each video you want to download.
That works pretty good, especially considering that I just tried using Tubemate and it doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm on OS 2.1 beta, so that may be the reason. I know it worked before. Anyhow, at least I know I have one app that works.

I just want to say "File2HD" is working fine for me. If you're using it for music videos, tap on "movies" instead of "all files", then scroll down to whichever version you want to download.
