The other morning i went in the backyard to get something out of my shed.

I heard some commotion above me and looked up to see an owl (i think) chasing a squirrel around.

I grabbed my playbook out of the car and started recording. the squirrel held its own on the tree where it obviously had an advantage.

eventually he crept down out of sight so i stopped recording. i heard another fuss and saw the bird had the squirrel in its talons and they were plummeting to the ground! i hit record again and caught a bit more video. they struggled and the squirrel got away and ran torward me, the owl caught him again, but he escaped again. this time they were uncomfortably close and i imagined owl talons in my face and said "oh SH**" and turned and ran haha.

when i turned around the owl was in the tree with no squirrel to eat haha. i was actually happy for the squirrel

its a long video so i wont upload unless someone actually wants to see it

haha sorry guys, i thought this thread had been deleted for some weird reason, i couldn't find it. come to find out i accidentally posted in the games and apps section.

Heres the vid, this is part two AFTER i turned the cam back on during the final attack.

I didnt want to get my face clawed off so i stepped away calmly while muttering a swear word (disclaimer, swear word is kind of loud and very distinguishable for those at work)

also, 2 questions...

1) why do my videos skip? ive recorded a couple of videos and they skip during playback even on the playbook. perfect example is on this one where i turn to calmly walk away, it skips.

2) can someone move this to the general section of the playbook forums

Others have also reported where they get that pause in video recording. I don't know if anyone has found an explanation.

I have done a dozen or more and never run into that issue.

you may have stabilization turned on or off. try switching it the otherway and see if it still skips

just a note via careful taps to pause, I think that is a kestrel, wrong shape for an owl. great escape for the squirrel.

Nice video, but you need to stand your ground to get the best footage!

As far as the video freezing, I had this same problem and it took me forever to get it fixed. No one had any answers.

I finally called BB support (the woman could barely speak English and was obviously reading scripts).

Do a backup of all your data first.

Then turn off your Playbook

Open your BlackBerry Desktop Software

While your Playbook is off, plug it into the PC with the USB

It will say that it can't connect but one of the option is update, select "update" (this will force a reload of the OS. This will take awhile.

You will then have to go thru setup again and it will prompt you to upgrade to 1.0.7.2942

After I did this, i had no issues with freezing after shooting multiple videos. I have a 32GB Playbook and before I had 2 seasons of Breaking Bad and 5-6 movies on there. I have not reloaded them on there yet to see if that will affect it but for now the issue is gone.
