Would these updates raise the BlackBerry PlayBook?-february-11-2014-75623-pm-gmt.jpg

If the BB10 Android Runtime was added and the BB10 Browser added to the BlackBerry PlayBook would that change the game for the PlayBook? Surely it's not that difficult as the technology already exists! I'd say these two updates, together with the continuing Bridge updates would not only be good for PlayBook users, make the tech news and improve Blackberry's image as a company that listens to its user community?

That's even funnier when you see it in print.

I'd rather the Keyboard be updated over the Android Runtime - I agree with the browser.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be seeing much of anything else going forward. . . I'd love to be surprised, though.

Never seem to know what BlackBerry are up to? Is this normal? Lol Isn't it time to engage with the PlayBook users....who in essence have been the 'BlackBerry Evangelists' and kept the faith going during the transition from OS7 to BB10!

As a PlayBook user, I'd love it.

But as a realist, I won't let hope get in the way of experience or business sense. Spending Dev time on the PB simply isn't worth the resources for BBRY. It would add nothing to their proposition or perception, and I don't believe it will happen.

I still hit the update button now and then, just in case! I can't imagine how cool it would be!

I'd say the Android Runtime update for the BlackBerry PlayBook is by far the most popular request....so who confirms the update us impossible? Sorry, but we may as well sort this out once and for all?

If a I-pad can run with 512 or 1g of ram and be very efficient why does a playbook need more than 1g of ram as it is only a dual core processor?

Because the Playbook must run its own OS, the Android runtime and the Android app. You are asking an awful lot of three or four year old design. I am surprised how many still think the Playbook is still on Blackberry's radar. They maintain nominal support because they have to. If I was in their shoes I would do the same. If Blackberry was able to even think about a tablet they would be thinking about a NEW design. It would be built in China like the new phones will be and none of the improvements would in any way improve the lot of the current playbook. Enjoy your Playbook for what it is. It isn't going to magically change into a new tablet.

Thanks for your comments. It seems an awful long drop from promising BB10 (and nearly making it) on the PlayBook to not being able to perform any updates other than Bridge?

We won't be getting BB10 on the PlayBook. They have made that clear. I have a feeling something of an update (possibly 'Hub Bridge) is brewing...fingers crossed!

They need to make a new PlayBook, with BB10 on it. BlackBerry needs a tablet. A 7.0" tablet with BB10. Who cares what they call it.

Not many companies are going to put that kind of time and effort into a 3 year old failed (in the market) product let alone a struggling company. I'd love to be wrong though.

Think it could help restored faith in BlackBerry if they improved the PlayBook. I would say nearly all BlackBerry dedicated fans, the BlackBerry Evangelists', have a PlayBook!
