For all the way BB has really annoyed me over this, there's no point in spending even more cash and downgrading. Not into smart phones at all (my phone makes calls and texts and cost less than $20), so IMO there's only one way to jump - up to ipad or ipad mini. I'm a Mac user anyway. Maybe wait til the new retina mini in Q4 (unless they too make poor predictions) By then the PB browser may be in dire need of upgrading Flash etc, and the batteries will be below 70% healthy. Just need to get used to the wierd concept of using Itunes to move documents, and with no wifi sharing, but hey can't have everything.

EDIT: Just seen a post later in the thread that says there is wifi sharing on iPad. If so, it's a no-brainer.

Just bought another Playbook. Kids use the 32GB every day for playing movies and games. I got a 64GB playbook this week new for $150. Also have a 32GB Nexus 7. The playbook is hands down the best tablet OS I have and it is far easier to use than an android. Don't use a lot of apps but most I need are side loaded. Only complaint is that I would love to have Talkatone to use Google voice calling. Can use Comwave though if needed. If I could load Linux Mint I would consider it. Other than that I love the playbook and love BB Bridge for my work phone. Won't buy another but will use these for as long as I can.

I am going to stick with my playbook for the time being. I know there are no more updates to come although it would be nice to see android jelly bean support to be added.

When i do eventually get a new one it will defo not be android i dont like the os. Will either be ipad or microsoft will have to have a look at some microsoft tabs when the time comes.

I ordered the Kindle Fire HD last Thursday. Playbook is becoming glitchy and my daughter is stingy with her Samsung Galaxy...i need..ok want..NextIssue and the sideload to my PB and Z10 won't work. However. Having internet access without WiFi via bluetooth is Priceless. So my PB stays. Don't like the larger tablets, so the KF should work just fine.

Got my wife's spare IPad and I'm not looking back. My PB is now my expensive clockradio next to the bed, where it will probably remain forever. This has totally destroyed my trust for BB. Since the only app they have that is worth anything, BBM, is being rolled out cross-platform, my next phone is looking less and less likely to be a BB.

I didn't need to have OS 10, but OS 3.0 would have been nice. Frankly, they really screwed the pooch by just dumping the PB support, rather than phasing it out.

For the time being, I have replaced my Playbook with a Note 2. Eventually, I'd like to get a 2nd gen Surface Pro (when they come out).

I like the Z10 and have no reason to bail but as for the playbook, the handwriting on the wall (blackberry's "Continued Support") says that no more OS updates are coming outside a minor bug fix or two.

I am eyeballing the Kindle Fire HD, as it has a faster processor and better screen resolution than the playbook but has full app support like Skype, kindle e books, Netflix streaming, everything I have been waiting for but regrettably ignored by blackberry. My understanding is its dual band wifi is unmatched currently in the field of tablets and the dual speaker system is excellent.

I lament that amazon was able to do what blackberry couldn't or wouldn't in a short period of time. As I look at the tablet market out there today I am amazed at what companies can do that... well... want to sell products and make money.
I already have a variety of tablets (Android ICS, Kindle Fire HD, Win8-Surface Pro and Thinkpad 2). I still find myself reaching for the PlayBook most.

My Playbook have not not been much use to me since my Z10 purchase, except for media playback. I am holding hope for at least a bridge update, but if not..oh well. I don't see any reason for a new tablet when the the new smartphones does so much. Spending money on devices with the same capabilities seems a bit redundant to me.

iPad or Nexus 7 but iPad is still the gold standard so why buy any other?
ITunes basically. I don't like that bottle neck. I don't like not being able to just plug in a device as thought it were a mass storage device and swap files around. That is too sweet.

Does it really matter what device I choose? By the time I buy it there is already a newer faster one. iPad is coming to mind or a Nexus 10 but the camera's are so low in mp on the device. I think I will have to wait until Christmas and I better be good....

The issue for me about the BB10 announcement is HONESTY.....they LIED, or, were too stupid to realize it wouldn't work...either one indicates a large degree of incompetence...it seems BB is run by past-their-prime, shady, porno mustachioed used car salesmen in velour jumpsuits.

No, I will stick with my PlayBook because it does everything I need it to do. I do not miss the bridge application because I rarely used it when paired with my Torch. I mainly used it as a remote when the PlayBook was connected to the TV, but was laggy with my 9810. Now, Bridge works much better with my Z10. So, no loss. It is a gain for me instead.

No, no reason to at this point. The PB works great for me right now and I expect it to for a while yet. After that, not sure. I haven't come across a tablet I like better and after researching and checking the other forums out, they all appear to have their own share of issues. I may wait and see if BB releases a BB10 tablet before the end of the year. That would be worth waiting for and I'm sure my PBs will hold out that long.

Jump ship? They made us walk the gang plank, then set fire to it and waved at us. I have to do more research but right now I'm looking at the Nexus at one end of my list and the surface pro at the other.

I don't think I would purchase another BB product but I agree that in it's current red head stepchild form there is nothing else out there to make me jump. If you have no need (nor desire) for social media (grade nine health class turned me off of anything social) or gaming (which I have better games to play in real life) the pb suits my needs fine.

This is not to suggest what BB did is in any way excuseable. I'm still choked

I hate to say it it chokes me up inside with anger and disappointment no other tablet on the market multitasks like a master as the playbook the only glitches I have are in the browser and the poor app selection but I love using it and now every time I look at it since Friday I want blackberry to give me a rim job I had them since the tour 9630 and love them ever since but in that short amount of time I have seen lots of broken promises and failed fruitions it's frustrating they could have had the world by the balls but short stroked when they should have long stroked Dissapointed...

I'd wait for version 2 as well. As a nexus 4 user, I was really disappointed with the nexus 7 as I found it laggy (compared to the 4) and android still needs more work to be customized for tablets. Plus, most of the apps I use on my nexus 4 aren't optimized for tablets yet (so essentially you get blown up versions of the same apps which I find frustrating).

Android tablets are getting better (I owned a galaxy tab 10.1 which I completely despised) but android and developers need to spend more time looking at how to make a better tablet experience.

At the end of the day, using android tablets just made me wish for a faster playbook since the ui is just so much better. Shame really that it will never see its potential.

I will probably get the next nexus 7 since the hardware upgrades will address the lagginess and apps should eventually be upgraded to tablet versions.

Ipads and Windows tablets are still too expensive for the amount of use I will give them but I would like to try a Windows one if I could.
