    No, in that it never had support in the first place. Not even the Cobalt stuff.

    It is not surprising in the least that Google is jettisoning Gingerbread, for reasons given within the article.

    To be less reductive than other replies here: no, because Google Play Services was never part of the equation to begin with for BB's emulation of Android.

    So, in whatever limited way it "works" today, it'll continue to do so until any sideloaded apps themselves are no longer supported for Gingerbread.
