EDIT: Just wanted to add that I look to be upgrading to a 9810 in the next few months. I love my 9800/PB combo, and I have tested out both the 9810 and 9900, and while I love them both, I think the 9810 will serve me better via os7 upgrade on the same form factor that I am currently using.
Dude, you and I discussed this last week! Upgrade already, fer cryin out loud! You wait too long, you'll miss the bargains!

I am at my office, posting from my PB. I have no wifi here. I am on my Bridge, and I used the CrackBerry app to get to this page. I also have my Facebook app open. All on Bridge. No tethering. No tethering charge.

U mean all Bridge functions right ? Not every App ? For example, if u r connected via Bridge can u open ur facebook app or the weather app ?
My Facebook and Weather apps are both up and running on my Bridge right now, even as I post.

Blackberry Traffic 3.0. Best part is that it is free.
BB Traffic 3.0 is great! Also, LifeinPocket is great for GPS, and it's free as well.

ALL OF YOU ARE MAKING ME JEALOUS!!

Upgrading Curve 8330 to Bold 9930 feels like overkill. It will be going back today/tomorrow.
I really wanted a 9810 but had to switch carriers for that and scared of AT&T shenanigans. GPS is free?? That's awesome. I'll try it out in a few moments, but looks like a trip to Best Buy in a few minutes to get the 9810

Question: My Sprint contract is up in exactly one week. Deals are out NOW. I would like to keep my Sprint number when I close the contract next week and port it over to the phone I purchase today. If they issue me a new number at AT&T, can I port my number a week later from my closing Sprint contract????

Yeah, I just feel like the screens go together so well. But, now a confession: I have been terribly neglectful of my 9810 since getting my PB. It's true.

but that's what I want... to neglect my phone. You can't neglect a 9930, the screen is too beautiful and I can see myself tampering with it too much, trying to see what all it can do.
I just want my phone to be a phone AND be a 3G Bridge to my PB. My 8330 sux but is great Bridged to PB. And quite frankly, I have neglected my phone, my iPad and my Macbook Pro because of the Playbook. It's that awesome/convenient

That is so true! I have been playing Aces Solitare on my 9810 every so often to give it sum luv. But otherwise, it's been the PB32 show lately!

sorry I had to go there, but that's my job - I've been supporting that software for over a decade now, almost put 2711-ND3 on my license plate one year (super geeky I know)

I own a 9810, but I use a 9900. The 9810 is a great phone, but I just prefer the bigger keyboard for what I use the phone for. For me the 9900 and PlayBook compliment each other perfectly. No want or need for anything else.
    +1000

My 9900 in my shirt pocket and my PB in my jacket pocket. No serving tray sized tablets needed. The pair is awesome for mobility. I'm I wifi or bridged..doesnt matter...I'm simply connected. When intensive data entry is required, I sit down and break out my 13" MacAir. Everything tied in with google cloud products. I feel I have the best of all worlds now.

Use what you like and run with it.

I was about to get the 9810 but opted out and got a Samsung Galaxy S II. My reason being that the 9810 is not much of an upgrade (ie same size, looks, still freezes with the hr glass). I decided to go with a more reputable platform and "modern" phone so I can feel like I am entering 2012. I also figured the 2.0 update scheduled in February for the PB will do away with Bridge because I never liked bridge. The bluetooth integration and file transfer was too slow in my opinion. I hope to sell my 9800 on ebay and won't be looking back. No more BB phones for me.....for now

First off, this is exactly the kind of thing the OP asked people not to post.

Second, if you got a S II, how can you possibly know if a 9810 freezes? I have one that I used for a month and a half before I got the 9900, and I can tell you for a fact that it does not freeze, and the only time I saw an hour glass was during the download and installation of apps.

Third, your nice new S II has exactly nothing to do with this thread or the PlayBook.

Thank you for playing. Now go enjoy your modern 2012 phone.

Ok, #1.. I won't be apologizing for my statements regardless of what was "asked of people". I did not say anything bad or post a secret about the 9810 that's not already known. #2 I tested and compared the 9810 quite a few times with the 9800, in the stores and using one owned by a friend prior to getting the S II. (In fact this friend works for AT&T and had the 9810 for couple weeks and got rid of it for the SkyRocket and just sold me on the SII, ha !) Googlemaps, facebook, googlevoice would all freeze on the 9810 forcing me to pull the battery. I thought the glitchiness would improved being that its a 7.0 phone. IMO this is a weak upgraded. I was merely commenting on the premise of the thread title which is "why own a playbook and a bb7 (9810)...I say NO you don't have to and stated why the combination is not needed. Hey, you want to buy a case, 2 batteries and charger for your 9810, they fit and nothing has changed physically between the 9810 and the 9800

I was in a store recently and the new Galaxy Nexus (by Google) was frozen in demo mode. The salesperson said the OS needs to be reloaded. Your Galaxy will most-likely freeze in 2012...bahahahahaha
