I guess BestBuy won't be stocking or selling Playbooks. Not a good sign.

I'm just guessing here, but could be that RIM and bestbuy might have had a falling out.
A lot of posters here have drawn attention to the fact that BestBuy was hardly making an effort to sell them. With dead PB's on display and staff that couldnt care less.

Or maybe BestBuy decided its not worth it. Who knows...

Yes, it appears that Best Buy has pulled all references to the PB itself, but left the accessories, which are still no bargain. I never liked Best Buy anyway, so I really don't care.

Glad it made news. I am a little miffed that best buy cancelled my order. They shouldn't have put it on their website, charge me, and then cancel my order. I will think twice before buying anything from them.

    Yes that is unethical.

I've had bad experiences with BestBuy as well. I avoid them whenever possible. At these current prices though word of mouth will spread, and RIM can pretty much sell BestBuy's share straight from the ShopBlackberry online store. I don't think this will hurt RIM or the Playbook in any significant way.

I have had terrible experiences with their return policy and returning defective equipment with best buy. So if I buy something, I try to make sure that I am for sure going to keep it and try to test things before I leave the store.

I however do think pulling pbs out of stores will hurt rim. Sure, the overhead may be smaller...but as the old adage goes: "Out of sight, out of mind."

The PB hasn't been pulled out of anywhere else yet though.

    Oh sorry. You're right.

I tried to buy a pb last week (nov 23), and the sales associate at best buy said that the pb is not in their system any more. So I have been expecting best buy to pull the pb even though they have yet to make any announcements.

I am noy a big fan of Best Buy anymore they used to be really good but now service is lacking. Last few times i was there in the computer area ready to buy I was never asked if i needed any help. I went to another retailer to buy the item I wanted!

interesting. glad i happened to get mine from best buy before it was gone (and i only bought it because it just happened to be on sale and as an open box return so i got 10% off).

only thing i really like best buy for is to use it as my own personal test and evaluation center before i actually buy whatever it is a helluva lot cheaper somewhere else.

Got my 32GB PB at Office Depot for $250 after they price matched the Staples ad. My mom and bro were with me and bought one each too. So my comment is this - your loss, Bestbuy! Could have bought it from you, but I didn't!

Bestbuy never gave a damn about the playbook. I remember going to the one on Edison NJ and asked questions about it. No one was able to answer me. Then they called someone who know about the playbook. That person never showed up while I was waiting next to the tablets. A really horrible experience with bestbuy

From what I have read bb is in a downward spiral, slow it may be but steady. Crappy customer service, stiff competition, and a schizophrenic economy are eating away at them. Here locally I have seen traffic taper off there. I basically go there to see and touch the new technology but 90 percent of the time buy elsewhere. Wouldn't be surprised to see them shake the tree a little to see if they can turn things around. I buy at least once a week on amazon and customer service has never let me down.

I'm of the impression that Best Buy will go the way Circuit City did; they were great when they started, but the shopping experience is now akin to buying clothing at a store that sells tires, batteries, and motor oil.

Could be that RIM told them to take backorders then cancelled upcoming deliveries.

RIM just may be running out of Playbooks?

Just to clarify Best Buy doesn't bill your CC online. When you make an online purchase the product is held until you come in and pay. The payment method at that point is your choice.

-It could be that Best Buy is disinterested or they don't like competing with RIM for sales, or at discounts there is no margin for the store.

Best Buy treats the PB today the way retailers like Future Shop treated Apple products in the days when Apple wasn't the favorite son, pre ipod and imac. Apple products were relegated to the dusty dark corner all powered down with no knowledgeable sales staff to provide meaningful help in any way.

RIM could take a page from those days and send out RIM specialists to the retailers where sales are lagging, or booming as the case may be, to provide on site customer support and PR.

Could it be that RIM plans to open Blackberry retail stores? They are slowly trying to follow the Apple business model and this would be one more step.
