Absolutely true, $59 + tax + shipping my total in Canada was $68. 32G model with 3G/4G tray sealed, but I will try to open it.
30 day warranty for defective units, otherwise as is, no tech support , loaded with 2.1.0.1753 and no additional updates in the future.

Will be great if someone know the phone where we can contact for the US, so I can purchase the 4G version for less than a smartphone bill.

I can confirm this. I got a 32gb for $70 taxes in.I noted the following:

    1) Does not come in a box, if you were hoping to give as gift. They are no longer being sold commercially, so it simply came in a manila envelope with wall charger, USB, case.

    2) Comes with a note saying that because it is an "employee clearance unit" and because there is no carrier support, it is not apporoved for SIM use, and the SIM card tray has been sealed shut.

3). Note also indicates there will be no tech support provided, no future software updates, and no replacements available after Jan 17, 2014

Unfortunately, mine has battery life issues, and since the included note says "battery life not guarunteed", I have to live with it. But for $70, I won't complain.

I'd love a second playbook! One isnt enough around the house with everyone nabbing it. If i could get the sim card open and working that would be fantastic

Why go through all of that when Amazon has New, Used and Refurbished PlayBooks.
I'm not sure if the 4G model is available but here is a link to check it out.

Well worth it for $60. I bought mine new in a private sale for $60, and I absolutely adore it. Don\t listen to those that say that "it's dead tech", if your device works, it's not dead.

Doesn't sound like a very good deal. You pay $70 and the unit may or may not be defective. I'll take my chances on Kijiji where you can still find good ones from $80 to $150 with added accessories.

For the best (and least frustration) get a new one from Amazon. You get what is supposed to be in the box, AC Adapter, Neoprene slipcase, BB Data Cable, and guess what???

You get a full manufacturers WARRANTY................

Also, get the Rapid Travel Charger, the one with the magnetic connector, it will save your USB port from wear and tear (use for backup and data transfer), and if you just get it close, it will snap into place and if you "walk" thru the cable, it will just "break-away", cause ZERO damage to the PB. About 13 bucks, again from Amazon.

Found something that might be of interest.
Read the fine print in this ebay ad, it appears to be the clearance 4G 32gb PlayBook from BlackBerry with the sealed SIM tray.
Not at the same low price that BB employees get it for, but still looks like a pretty good deal for a new PB at $120 and free shipping. Over 30 sold so far. I picked one up, still in shipping.

I would agree, though strange the seller didn't work "1.5 GHz" into the listing somewhere...

Got two 4G's on eBay recently for $160 each, though only for the chip, only using with wi-fi...

I have a 64 and 32gb unit, both in otterbox cases since new so they are in pristine condition. Considering getting rid of one. All ports fully functional and no camera issues. Each has all original accessories and the box.

Will entertain offers and you cover shipping from Ontario Canada
