Now that the end is near for PlayBook OS support, what will happen to BlackBerry PlayBook's AppWorld?

I assume they will stay. Even though PB is unsupported by BlackBerry, there is no need to remove the apps from the App World.

I think the BBRY World is common to all BBRY devices, e.g. you can see app compatibilities for all OSs/devices. At least when you access from the PC. I think the PB app just filters those that work on the PB. So it shouldn't be a big cost to maintain it since it shouldn't change much from the PB side. LOL. The Video Store is another story and only services the PB. I would expect that to shut down sometime.

BB World for PB will stay open for the foreseeable future.

As someone else mentioned, there is some interconnected factors here. Plus it doesn't cost them anything or much anyway to maintain the status quo when there's still some purchases to be made and therefore revenue for them.

The only thing that supports the BlackBerry PlayBook's App World is the BlackBerry PlayBook itself... now that the life support for Playback has been pulled out, PlayBook will diminish naturally - no matter what... no apps or games will be developed since there is no profit either with the developer... even the update will no longer be happening...

Why I'm asking this is because most of us will keep our PlayBook until it becomes unserviceable... and BlackBerry should inform us of until when the App World will be available... same when they announced for the OS support...

I would expect at least another couple of years. There are a few businesses that are using the Playbook. After that time it is anybody's guess. The original Playbooks will be around 5 years old at that point. That is all the time you can expect from this type of device. The clock is ticking...
