they may end up with a completely different name and bury the playbook moniker like they are the storm line.

which is too bad because both are good names.

I actually wish RIM took the name the Blackberry SLATE before LG made the G-slate but oh well. The playbook is the most "slate-like" tablet having no rounded parts other than the corners.

    The BlackBook
I think there is a good possibility of Blackbook but the issue is when you say "The Blackberry Blackbook" it doesn't quite roll off the tounge like the Playbook does. Unless they brand it as a seperate entity to Blackberry. After all Blackberry is just a brand of products. They could brand tablets as Blackbooks and phones as Blackberries.

You know, I think the trouble is the different perceptions of the word "play." People are talking like it refers to engaging in a game of Angry Birds, while RIM, as evidenced in the press conference presenting it, was using the term as in an NFL team's playbook. Or as in, "I just checked the NYSE; that company's in play."

Now see.....in my opinion "The BlackBerry BlackBook" rolls quite nicely off the tongue . Its also a perfect name for advertisement purpose. Sort of a "whats inside of this BlackBook" .....Just my humble opinion

I like the marketing options for the name "Blackbook". I can already see the commercial, 2 people talking talking, one says "Let me check my little Blackbook." out comes the tablet tethered/bridged to phone checks his emails, and responds.

However, The name Playbook has a REALLY great ring to it. So Playbook2 keeps that same great sound. However, at that point it's almost like a mirror of Sony. Playbook2 (PB2) Playstation2 (PS2), the next gen Playbook needs a name that's all it's own. Something that stands out and strikes fear in all other tablets.

Blackberry Zeus, Blackberry Command, Preeminence. Or maybe the could "borrow" a name from Artic Cat since they are in no way a competitor - Blackberry Commander.
