With all the sweet coverage on BB10 recently it got me think about how the operating system will run on the PlayBook. Even the Dev Alpha and pre-release Z10s seem to be smoking fast and stable. Will this directly translate to similar performance when BB10 comes to the PB?

I know the PB's hardware is far from cutting edge now, but from what I've read and seen, BB10 won't need amazing specs to do great things.

I'm stoked to get the Z10 as soon as it gets released, but further down the road, I'm hoping the PB gets a big boost in OS and apps from BB10. We've got 4 PBs in my house and hopefully BB10 on the PB will be a good "gateway drug" to ween my wife off her Galaxy S3 in into a BB10.

Anyone seen BB10 running on a Playbook yet, or have any insight as to how it will perform?

I haven't seen any pictures of it running on the PlayBook, but tweets from RIM employees indicate that it will come sometime this year. I like OS 2.1 on the PlayBook, though I welcome any tweaks or improvements that a BB10 tablet OS would bring. With iOS, it's the same across the iPhone, iPod touch, and all the iPads. I have the iPod touch, but I'd kinda feel dumb if I bought all three devices and had the same exact OS on all of them. When RIM releases BB10 for our PlayBooks, I hope it's a little different than what we've seen on the Z10.

That will be the story maker app. That isn't what BB10 will look like on the PlayBook. Most likely it will have the same layout but rumors have it having more active frames on the home screen like 6 instead of 4. Something like that would be the difference

It will have 8 active frames instead of 6. Just yesterday bb10 action bar in landscape was uploaded to github. It will likely be just like the Z-10 os only a tad slower. I'm really guessing here and we will all just have to sit tight and see when it arrives.

Guessing indeed...you said it will have 8 Active Frames instead of 6...but the Z10 will have 8 Active Frames with 4 shown per page, swipe down and see the other 4...so maybe the PlayBook will show the same 8 but they will be larger frames...or there will be 6/8 per page allowing for 12/16 open apps rather than 8

That would be the official name of the full touch BlackBerry10 device that you may or may not have been seeing all over the forums.
