BBQ, of course. But in the pacific northWET or northWET Washington, we do Copper River Salmon - salmon, the other red "meat."

A hint of flavor variety, curry powder on one end and basil on the other

Correct, but my sisters are. I celebrate twice! BBQ's are a man's microwave. I even reheat my pizza on mine now and then. Makes for crispy bottoms.

Man, that Copper River salmon is good stuff; as a fellow WA person (Olympic Peninsula) I salute you! It's even very tasty raw, as sushi.

Ever tried White Salmon? Not too good raw, but about the best grilled salmon I've ever had in my life. Not too easy to find, but if you see it, it's a must-buy.

You had me at salmon! Now if you would be so kind as to air lift a piece to me(New Brunswick). That'd be great.

It really is good stuff. And, yes, my sushi guy (a block from my house) serves it. And he even serves the White Salmon raw - and it, too, is excellent.

    Where on the peninsula?

Don't you still have wild Atlantic Salmon? Nova Scotia lox was a regular on Saturday nights when I was growing up in Da Bronx! I don't think farm raised "salmon" (doubtful) existed back then.

Funny, you should mention air lift - the first of the season is treated as a celebrity - flown in special by Alaska Airlines with a formal ceremony.

Yessir we indeed still have a pretty healthy run of Atlantic Salmon here on the "Mighty Miramichi".

I only was introduced to it as sushi but I saw it at the fresh fish market just last week. Here's an article but there must be a reason that there's a town called White Salmon, WA - south of the incredible Mt Adams areas along the Columbia River

The Seattle Times: Pacific Northwest Magazine

I guess I could email a friend who was a fisheries biologist for two of the tribes and ask him.

All of the salmon I caught came from the rivers in southern Alaska. I must have caught a few hundred in my time so I'm overdue for a whitey. Sometimes the runs were so thick you could just pick them up out of the water.

I've been busy hugging tress and fattening the wildlife in the northeast. What I did with my PB without bb10 on 4th of July "weekend"-peu_20130704_11.jpg

Okay, finally another picture. The lore around here is that before the various dams were built you could have walked across some of the rivers on a continuous carpet of salmon. What is amazing is watching salmon spawning on the east side of the Cascades, knowing that they came up the Columbia (and through fish ladders) and then into smaller rivers and streams hundreds of miles when if they were crows, it would have been maybe a 50 mile trip over the range!

Well, in the past, the subject "What I did...." spurred folks to post photos of what they had done with the pb serving as the camera, documentarian. Salmon seems to have interested folks..............
