He has said this same thing in multiple threads and has yet to respond with an explanation, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Oh my apologies, I do not subscribe to threads so I don't entirely keep track and forgive me for being a busy engineering graduate student.

Make a backup, locate the application, find the folder which contains the .png image for the "desktop icon" and swap them out with your own ensuring you rename your new .png image to the name of that in the app, then rezip and rename the zipfile to .bar.... I do it all the time. Check out this thread for an example:

Elementary stuff really and you don't have to ROOT YOUR PB

I posted this in the Blackberry Support forums about a month ago. I hope it makes the process clearer for some.

This is how wallpaper works on the Playbook.
The attached images have been resized to work better in the forum.

This is a photo of my dogs. The original is 1600x1200 pixels.

If I decide to use this photo as wallpaper the Playbook uses the centre 1024x1024 section.

I will see the red section when I am in landscape and the blue section when in portrait.
    Red is 1024 wide x 600 high, blue is 600 wide x 1024 high.
The centre 600x600 section, purple, is always visible in either landscape of portrait.
The corners outside of the red and blue sections are never seen as wallpaper.

If the OS didn't do it this way it would be very difficult to determine the common centre section.
The common centre section is like an anchor so when you go from landscape to portrait it appears that the wallpaper does not move it just exposes more or less of the image.

In this example I cropped and resized the image to 1024x1024 so the part of the image that I want to see in both portrait and landscape is within the 600x600 centre area.

I removed the corner areas just for illustration, it is not necessary.

some also posted a helpful .psd file for making pb walls easy in PS. i use it all the time. i guess i should share it.
just open the file, delete background layer, make your own new bg layer and turn on the other layers to see how they would line up on pb.
    easy peasy lemon squeezy.
make sure you turn off the two special layers before saving.

haha maybe i will. there office / warehouse is actually only a couple blocks away from me. which actually drives me crazy because they will not sell directly from the office. dont want to wait for a week to mix up my playbook.

when you do get your skins hold onto the packing that came with it. if you want to swap them out you can stick them back onto the sheet... just put a book ontop of the sheet after you stick it back on to keep it from curling.
Here is what I'm running now. A simple dragon tribal image on a white background for the PlayBook. And a Zombie compilation for the Phone.

I put a different set on the girlfriends iPad 2 and BlackBerry But didn't include those two.
