So what do you guys use your Playbook for. I just ordered a playbook online to do web browsing and what not similar to what I do on my Z10, but was wondering what else do you do. I hear a lot about BB Bridge and stuff and don't understand it at the moment. Also i hear about rooting it what can you get by rooting it? What android runtime is running on the Playbook? And anything else positive and good about the playbook.

Also what do other os users use their devices for am I missing something cool? Is the play book still pretty good?

I use it for that same reason - browsing, email, and listening to music.

When you get yours, download origami browser. Best browser out there at the moment.

Rooting? Try to stay away from if you can, causes issues, and would probably mess up you enjoyment level, increase your frustration level.

Bridge? Well, it works sort of, you can use it for data services to your playbook (say you are using Magellan Maps, your Z10 will be the "modem" for thePB and your map data will come in.

Bridge was AWESOME with OS 7, you got your messages, texts, send same from Playbook while thephone charges in the next room.
Not anymore, just data/internet sharing. When/if they fix that, then I will buy a Z10. The Remote control function is still there I beleive.

Android apps? well for the most part they work, sometimes they don't. Go to Goodereader and they have a list of ported apps for the Playbook that they say work, I have used a few of them, from them, and they do work. Eye-Fi, Phone my PC are a couple I use regularly.

I use one of my 64gb units for work, always with me, and my second 64gb unit acts as a "Media Server" to my TV and Audio system.

Connected to audio with a BB Music gateway, to tv thru micro-HDMI, and an RCA cable to pipe the audio from tv into the stereo.

ALL controlled by the Blackberry Torch 9850.

I REALLY hope they fix/restore Bridge to it's former glory with OS 7 to BB10.

    ENJOY!

Thanks I appreciate the advice so the PlayBook isn't necessarily done you can continue using it which is a good thing for me. What about word apps I like native Microsoft Word but the word to go is good correct? Also plan on using a bluetooth keyboard and my z10 as a mouse what y'all think?

I haven't used the word to go thingy, and there is an app in App World that at least allows minimal text/cell editing, forgot the name, but it runs about 6/9 bucks. From what Iv'e read in here, it's iffy.

BT keyboard is a good thing to have and YES, by all means the Z10 as a mouse, works well when you plug in your PB to the tv and play some movies you threw in it.

The BEST 15 bucks you will spend is the BB Rapid Travel charger from Amazon. Used the 3 charging pins on the bottom of the playbook, along with a magnetic catch, you can plug it in in the complete darkness, either way, and it just pulls of if need to avoid damage. This way, I only use the Micro USB port when I am drag/dropping movies or audio files to the Playbook.

Go here: Amazon.com: Blackberry Rapid Travel Charger for Playbook - Retail Packaging - Black: Computers & Accessories

I have every CD I own ripped to WMA Lossless, and a buch of movies I exchange once in a while, but nuthin' beats coming home, a beer (or a single malt) in one hand, the Z10 in your other hand controlling what you see and hear. Oh yeah, But* on the couch....

Its a PornBook, not a PlayBook. That's really about the only thing that I use it for anymore.. Well that and a few choice games and some occasional standard web browsing.
I'm happy that bridge functionality has somewhat returned, but as compared to my Z10, the PB seems absurdly slow most of the time.. I think that if full functionality was restored or the inclusion of a full BBM suite with Channels, I would use my PB a lot more like I did when I first bought it.

My parents own a bakery and they do fondant cakes. I saved all the pictures of their work on the playbook and they use it to show customers. We originally bought a galaxy Tab 2 for that but pictures come out much more clearer on the playbook at full brightness IMO

I use my playbooks for basically everything that I used to use my PC for. Email, facebook, Crackberry and other sites I subcribe to. Streaming tv and movies, taking picures and sharing them, uploading them to sites. Googling, eBaying, banking, checking and responding to office email. All from the comfort of my couch, back garden, porch or while traveling in Europe. I 've never been happier with a device. I even bought it some toys: Dell wireless mouse and Blaclberrt keyboard.

BBM works well with bridge to chat with your contacts, but groups don't show up.

I really liked the feature with BB7 that allowed text messaging through bridge. That feature unfortunately, no longer works with the latest incarnation..

Being abit older I have to make a trip to the restroom late at night so the PlayBook serves as a flashlight- Ultimate Flashlight app.
At times I read the old fashioned newspaper out on the porch and if the wind kicks up I reach over for my favorite paper weight, the PlayBook and lay it on the already read sections.
My favorite go to tool for battling insomnia - playing Mahjong on the PlayBook until I nod out.
I considered driving a nail with it when a hammer couldn't be located when my wife was in frenzy to get a picture hung. The sound of her voice almost made me do it.
I cheer up my canary with "Relaxbook Birds" app.. The PlayBook has alot of uses .
I'm just having some fun now with it.
I enjoy the PlayBook, works for me.

At home, I mostly use it for browsing, email and FaceBook.

When traveling, in addition to the above, I use an app called Spare Phone ($3, Android port in BlackBerry World), which hooks with Google Voice for free wi-fi calling back to the U.S. This is voice only, but tied to a local U.S. number, so I can receive calls as well. Some other people have suggested ePhone (free, BlackBerry World), but I've not tried it. (It used to be subscription-based, $20/year.)

I use the word component of Docs to Go for both work and play quite a bit and like it, but you should not expect it to be nearly as full featured as a full word processor. The Spreadsheet and Powerpoint work great for viewing, but are less good for editing.

I have the BlackBerry bluetooth keyboard, but I normally use the Playbook without it. My one complaint with the keyboard is that it does not play well (or at all) with the autocorrect or word suggestions. I was hoping that would have been addressed with BB10 on PlayBook, but alas, that never happened.

Overall I love I love my 64gb Playbook and have few regrets.
