For all practical purposes, it can't be done. It was possible to do it when the PB was running OS 1 and probably early versions of OS 2.0, but is not possible running 1753, and it's also not possible to revert to an earlier, rootable OS. A few have proposed methods for going back, but, as far as I know, the only thing that those who have tried to do so have accomplished is bricking their Playbooks. Poke around the Rooting sub-forum for more info.

Pacoman is right. BlackBerry is the leader in security for a reason. They have plugged up the holes when it comes to rooting the PB. Enjoy it for what it does out of the box
