Were none of these features already present in the beta? And previewing is hardly anything near a solid release. Especially with RIM.

it would be awesome if RIM pulled an "oh, and one more thing" and made it all available for download before February...
like new os10 phones perhaps....that would make the stock go up..

No not all those features are in the Beta OS . Wish they were , but they are not.

Basically the beta is the new UI and Android player . and A2DP . and i am sure a few other less notable back ground things.

I think this statement, "New Apps and Content:-- Your favorite apps plus thousands more.." is code for Android apps.
I certainly hope you're right. It is very odd they left this major functionality out of the press release. That feature alone would persuade more consumers. I know it did me.

I like the integrated inbox. I hope we'll get a chance to play with that soon in an updated beta. This is something that other tablets don't have.

Did anyone see A2DP in all that....not to be greedy or anything, I'm glad for the upcoming upgrade, but I didn't see anything concerning streaming music
already have it in the beta 2.0 now.

I think they may not have wanted to use the word "Android" at all in the press release.

That sums it up. They've already approved dozens (hundreds?) of apps, including the Handster ones. It would be really odd for RIM to suddenly pull that Android support.

I'm with you anything RIM says take with a grain of salt. But I will say if RIM goes as far as releasing a press release about they usually deliver on all promises. You get trouble when you listen to the two knuckle heads at the top doing interviews.

Remote control for the BlackBerry PlayBook - new BlackBerry Bridge™ features allow a user's BlackBerry smartphone to act as a keyboard and mouse for their BlackBerry PlayBook - effectively providing a wireless remote control for their tablet. Perfect for pausing a movie when a BlackBerry PlayBook is plugged in to a TV with an HDMI connection, or for using the tactile QWERTY keyboard on a BlackBerry smartphone to compose a message or document on the BlackBerry PlayBook.-

Take THAT you annoying virtual keyboard!!!

Just because its not in the press release doesn't mean it's not there. Have to save a few surprises, or what fun would opening the present be?

Or.. one more thing - press the check for updates button.

My thoughts exactly. It's a Blackberry press release so no point using "Android" and allowing a chance for others to steal their thunder. I bet there are some who would only focus on "Android" had they mentioned the word. Anyone who has been attentively following (or not even that attentively) should be able to deduce where the thousands more apps are coming from. Plus they mentioned Zinio.

So this is all good news and people can't seem to just enjoy the fact that this update is going to be the BEES KNEES! And we should all bask in the glow of actual positive change, not to mention, a higher quality experience on our already great Playbook tablets.
