- Hello.
I'm planning to get new tablet for me, looking for 7" one on ebay atm and Playbook catched my look.
What i need from tablet is the ability to play 720p H.264 mkv videofiles (well, it's raw anime) with a_s_s (or srt) subtitles (internal and/or external) and display fb2 books.
I've found some thresads here on forums about supported video formats, but they are old. I know that there will be OS update soon so may be there is some changes in it.
So, questions:
1.1 Can integrated videoplayer of 2.0 OS play 720p H.264 mkv videofiles OOTB? Or, if not, are there any good videoplayer apps in app world that can play it?
1.2 How about playback of subtitles?
I know that it's possible to convert videos using special software, but honestly i do not want to do it - it takes time, it's not comfortably and, well, it's not cool.
2. Same about fb2 books - are there apps for this and which they are?
Thank you in advance for your answers, Eugene.02-10-12 09:04 AMLike 0 - It will play MKV files - sort of. If the audio stream of the file is not AC3, then all you need to do is change the file extension to .avi. If it is AC3, there is a thread here

That explains how.
I have seen posts here that it may be supported in OS202-10-12 09:20 AMLike 0 - There's 3rd party MovieSRTPlayer which will display external xxx.srt files.
As noted mkv can be an issue depending on the audio codec/method.02-10-12 09:55 AMLike 0
