Nice to hear that they dealt with your problem effectively. Thanks for reporting back.

Yes the serial number is exactly the same (it was the first thing I checked) and I still have one small dead pixels which doesn't bother me as it is close to the bezel. They obviously took it apart, fiddled with some wires or internal feature and closed it up again. Just out of curiosity, how would they open up the playbook?
I strongly suspect they replaced the camera module which also holds the buttons. There really aren't any wires to come loose.

Just finished the initial process to get the RMA box sent out.I was so afraid they would reject it due to the time. I was dropping all the hints: paid full retail, bought the wife one, 9900, big fan, etc. Can't wait, but worried about the time apart.... Looks like I'll be confiscating my wife's for a while.

    How past "warranty" were you?

When I called I thought I was still within the one year but delayed 2-3 weeks too long (I miscalculated when I purchased). But they REPLACED mine under warranty.

I was probably close to two months past 1 year. I believe we got it around the end of April. I did tell them that it stopped with OS2, and he said that was February, so maybe he dated it for then. I don't know. As long as they don't give the moisture strip runaround, etc. I've always pampered and protected it. I hope it gets a new battery too, since I'm probably at 400 charge cycles. After I sent him the logs, he was able to tell that I had tried the betas.

I know I'm going to be nervous until it is back in my hands with no charges. The box came today and I wiped it and shipped it. I was almost ready to carry it to the truck for the FedEx guy or at least escort it. Separation anxiety... Ack!

I think the one I got back had 6 charges on it. I don't know if that was a result of testing, the result of resetting a counter on a refurbished unit or what. It was definitely a different unit with a different serial number. It looked brand new. It now has a recharge count of 10. Battery health on the original one was 92 or 94 whereas this one is 87.

I understand the anxiety - I dropped it at one of those small all-purpose mail joints and was hoping they would scan the label but they don't do that. Just dropped it in one of those fedex crates! Yikes!

They just fixed the camera and I've still got my old battery with 397 recharge count. I guess it is better than the camera not working but why is it always me with the bad luck...
