Can this be true? But I still love the playbook! It's a really neat tablet. Truly one of a kind ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Things change.... and that usually means old technology gets left behind, at some point.

As much as I loved my first tablet... I love my much more useful Surface Pro so much more.

That was part of the announcement. Video calling for PlayBook will end because they're shutting down the servers...

The are still in cost cutting mode.... just doesn't make "cents" to keep providing services for old products.

If anything, I'm surprised they didn't pull the plug earlier; the official end date for PlayBook OS was April 2014.

Anyway, this is part of BB shuttering whatever servers and services they still have left to support their legacy infrastructure. The video chat servers will shut down just before the seventh anniversary of the PlayBook launch, it's been a long-enough run.

So that means consumer BB10 to BB10 video calling are on different servers & won't shut down? Funny because Playbook can directly call a BB10 device with just the BB Pin entered and not having that person as a BB Contact. Too bad screenshare didnt work on PB-bb10 video calls.

Just not yet.... they are giving BB10 users a little more time. BB10 has two years, and then we will see just how extensive the shutdown is.
