I was hoping and praying that someone here could help me out, I need to find a way to get the .688 version back on my playbook. I had updated to .688 and then backed up, now I need to restore (had to do a security wipe) and my playbook is running version .358 so I can not restore. Does anyone have a remedy for this problem, I can reload everything but would much rather just do a restore!! Also after the security wipe I can not get the bridge to work with my torch 9810, I have tried everything, deleted app from torch and reinstalled for good measure and nothing I do will get it to connect!

    Any help is appreciated!

I don't have a copy of 2.0.1.668 (would like to get my hands on a copy though) but you should be able to install your backup on the 2.1 beta, which you can get at https://developer.blackberry.com/devzone/register

I have the same problem, and after three hours on the phone have finally been told by Blackberry that their is nothing that can be done to restore my backup until the next release of an operating system upgrade. I asked when that would be and was told hopefully soon but they would not give me a date. I find it unbelievable that this scenario would not have been tested before either the release of the new software, or the removal of the software.

You've to wait till 2.1 comes out (probably tomorrow when the Playbook 4G LTE comes out with 2.1 equipped.) Or sign up for the 2.1 Beta (if still available)

Ok, this won't solve your problem, but the following may (will) help you and a lot of other users in future.

Whenever I do software updates/upgrades, I do backup BEFORE the update as well as immediately AFTER the update. Therefor I have 2 possible versions I can recover from.

I apply this not just to PB, but for all technology devices and is a good principle to follow.

Weird. I accidentally wiped my PlayBook a couple of days ago, and when I had to download new OS, it was the 668 one.

@SCrid you are talking the 160~mb file or the 1GB desktop file?

Gotta wait till 2.1 comes out or buy yourself a 4G tomorrow and restore your data to it.

I was talking about the 2.1 beta lol.
I have a copy of the 1gb recovery image, but I haven't tried to load it because I'd rather not have to do a wipe/restore.

Wow, I wiped my PB due to .668 heating my screen up as well as some other issues. When I reinstalled, it still has. 668???? I have had it on for 1.5 hrs now checking it out...so far everything is okay. Whew! Very weird, but happy

I thought that one cannot restore or backup using 2.1 beta. How come this is possible?

If you have the 2.1 Beta the backup is only compatible with 2.1.x ie. Your backup from any OS version will work if you have 2.1 Beta installed but if you downgrade to 2.0.x your 2.1 Beta backup won't work.
