Surprising that, after two years of its obituary, the PB is still useful to some. I, for one, am stuck with it. I still use it for Email, internet surfing (Origami Browser is better than the Original Blackberry one) and an occasional photo. Sadly, Blackberry has abandoned the PB and no further Apps are available. And lately i received a message that YouTube does not support the PB any more. So THAT I hugely miss.

Yeah, that really was a blow for me. I really enjoyed the YouTube app on the PlayBook. It was a big thing I did on there. Now I will still use if for Cudi and Amazon Prime video through the 2 browsers.

It still makes an excellent music streaming device, and the charging stand holds it at the perfect angle for viewing.

Slacker is still supported on all BlackBerry devices, even the old legacy pre-7 devices. But you need an account with Slacker at the minimum level "Plus" for it to work as the old Slacker apps can't support Ads, so the free Slacker service does not work. Any subscription service does, just fine. I use it all the time with a PLUS level subscription. It's a great app.

I think Apollo for Pandora no longer functions free either. It my also need you to subscribe because of lack of advertising in the app that will never be updated. So free subscriptions are a thing of the past on Playbook It's getting close to EOL (end of life).

I know. I have had that for years. I just really liked the native app.

I agree. The native app was amazing. Many apps for PB (Like Slacker) were/are amazing. Sad to see this great device abandoned.

I use mine everyday on the daily train commute. Only use it to watch videos though... anything else is too old fashioned now, like the browser. Shame...

Then that is a good reason to purchase and install stereotube.

Playing music and movies for my son. It still has great speakers and a great screen.

Web browsing is painful, and apps are mostly an afterthought.

But it works well for those purposes.

    Posted via CB10
I agree re: speakers. Among the best I've ever heard on any device.

I'm blown away. Best two bucks ever spent.

If you miss watching YouTube on the PB, this app brings it back with playlist features.

    Looks great on Playbook though.

Maybe someone can make an app to auto accept on playbook a call from SET bbm pin and reorient passport display...?

    Example use:
I leave my playbook on cradle at home facing my doggies, i can call my playbook anytime to view my doggies from my passport anywhere I have connection and terminate the call anytime!

    What do you guys think?

I wouldn't expect anyone to make a new app for the PlayBook at this point....

But yeah the hardware is there to turn the PlayBook into a surveillance camera, just not sure the developers would have access to the API necessary. But you can buy a doggy or kid cam pretty cheap these days.

I just realized that the Playbook is probably my most used electronic tool ever.

I still use it every business day as it's BRIDGED to my 9900 and I do all my email and Texts and Calls on the Playbook via Bridge. It's in the charging dock on my desk all day.

Then at night it gets popped in the charging dock by my bed for streaming Slacker music and for a night time clock and alarm.

When I travel, I take a charging dock for hotels and the BlackBerry Portable Speaker for use as a business tool during the day at the desk in Hotels and for music at night. The BlackBerry Speaker gets used more as a Speakerphone as I use the built in speakers for audio playback when I'm in a Hotel. At home I use Bluetooth to a Stereo HiFi set via the BlackBerry Bluetooth Music Receiver Device.

Uses in 2015? It would be easier for me to list what I DON'T use it for!

For me the usefulness has ended. If BBM was offered on the Playbook I would have kept it, and given it to my parents for video and BBM chat. So now it's sitting on Ebay with all the cases and accessories and will be gone on Sunday. It's a little sad as this is a well built device. Most tablets these days are pretty flimsy.

BBM does work via the bridge, though you can't see picture attachments. Video chat also works (bbm video) although I haven't used it in a little while.

But agreed that had they offered at least Blend on it then it would have been far more useful. Unfortunately it looks like even that is no longer being developed since the move to Android.

So far today I've used it to research a Z30 pre-production model, for general web browsing and to stream music. It's much too useful to be used as an alarm clock.
