I'll add another use: my inlaws dont have Internet. Brought the PB and used bridge to surf boxing day sales after Christmas dinner while kids basically tore up the place.

I've never seen a more seamless way to use a my cell's Internet (wifi Hotspot kills the battery), and there's only so much socializing at the inlaws one can take!

I still use mine and it was great with my 9930 on the Bridge. But now that it switched to a Moto X that is no longer relevant. Here is what it is still good at? Speakers: Video or music it's very good. Games such as Solar Explorer, Pool Break, GT Racing HD, 17 in all that I have all good time wasters. Photo Gallery and the Calculator with the unit converter are outstanding. I would get the 4G model though, it is allot faster. Mainly it has a kick **** operating system. I shown people the Solar Explorer which is a 3D Solar System app and then told them it was a dual core 1000 and they can't believe it. T500J

Cool use for the playbook, I wonder if it can run the QNX Car entertainment software.

Many mental health professionals now use it as it is a tool to help build patience in individuals who have been diagnosed with "hurry sickness,“ a behaviour pattern characterized by continual rushing and anxiousness with an overwhelming sense of urgency. Therapy includes hours of rebooting the device, which has been proven effective in helping reverse the need for instant gratification.

Recent evidence would appear to show that "BlackBerry addiction" may be corrected in some users through frequent and prolonged contact with the PlayBook.

It may also be used to develop an individual's creativity and/or social interaction skills as they seek out ways to actually use the device.

Such a shame this thing had gone by the way side. It is beautiful hardware and though a low res screen it is nice. The OS had great potential, such a shame it was a half-arse effort. I still use mine sometimes though my kids cracked the screen. I have a Z30 and I love it. I've still to investigate how the two work together e.g. video chat, Bridge etc. Maybe I'll start using it again.

Is there much of a difference in specs/speed between the WiFi and 4G Lte?

    Sure:

    http://www.proporta.co.uk/blackberry...m-lining-brown

    Also on ebay.

It's very nice. The only thing I wish it had, was an elasticated strap like the BlackBerry one has.

Hey, thanks for the link, Gus.
Like yourself, I have the black BlackBerry case. Nice but adds a lot of thickness. Not sure if the Proporta will be any slimmer.
(Interesting. I typed 'BB' and my Classic automatically expanded it to 'BlackBerry'. Never noticed that before!)

I leave it on standby, battery lasts just fine. But I use it daily, leaving it on standby for long periods may not be good for it

    I just installed Stereo Tube...Wow!
I'm blown away. Best two bucks ever spent.

If you miss watching YouTube on the PB, this app brings it back with playlist features.

I just installed it also and love this app. Well spent 2 buck. Did you add your credit card number to the extension? I am a bit concerned about doing so as I don't understand the need

In the 2 years that I have had my Playbook, the only time I actually turn it off is when I go away without it, which is rare also by the way. There is no need to turn the device off.

You can also use it to rip and download YouTube videos.
Have you tried to download the mp4s and did you feel ok with leaving your CC number? Just wondering.

I have three playbooks that were sitting around for at least a year in a drawer and I finally decided to load them up with games and movies and gave them to the nephews (8 and 5) to play with at my parents place (as they are always over there).

They love them and play with them all the time. The oldest even likes the PlayBook better than his dad's ipad :-) (though the reason is probably more that he can use the PlayBook like it is his with no limits).

Still, they have been used more in the last six months then I ever used them so I am impressed. I expect though that in another year or so they won't cut it as they will want Internet access or just get bored of playing the same stuff.
